At last, Sully and Linda left with the waiters, leaving Hailey alone standing in the empty garden. Hailey did not feel frozen until everyone was gone.

She patted the dust off her clothes and tucked her coat tighter. Then she hurriedly went back to Edward’s villa.

After she was done cleaning herself, Hailey lay on the bed, tossing and turning. She was unable to fall asleep. What happened to her dog? Was it all right now? Did Edward abuse it?

Hailey remembered that a couple of years ago, her father gave the little dog to her. She held the cute brown dog in her arms. It stared at her with its big and round eyes. So Hailey kept it and raised it in that villa.

As a matter of fact, she did not like pets very much. But somehow, she didn’t dislike the dog her father gave to her. It was very cute and nice to her. So they basically got along well.

She thought of many names for it and finally she chose the name of Mark.

In three months, Hailey found that although Mark looked cute and adorable, it was actually quite fierce. Its characteristics were quite unmatchable to its name.

But Hailey did not choose another name because she had already got used to the name of Mark.

Mark was smart and seemed to understand human beings. For the next seven years, it got along well with Hailey.

Hailey reasoned that Mark must have come to the party following her car. Sully did not know that Mark was a pet. She probably thought it was just a pi-dog. That was why she came up with such a lusty idea in order to set a trap for Hailey.

Thinking about this, Hailey raised the corners of her mouth. A cold smile formed on her face. In her past life, she was killed miserably by Sully and Philip. Now, Sully took advantage of her pet and considered it a homeless dog.

Mark became very angry because it ran here all the way. That was why it was attracted by the food prepared by Sully and Linda and came to the backyard garden.

Thinking about the poor Mark, Hailey felt her heart ache so much. She felt that her own child was abused and bullied. That was terrible.

All of a sudden, she got off the bed and ran downstairs in a hurry.

She decided to go to Edward and check how it was going instead of lying on the bed, suffering.

The yellow light was turned on, making the cold bedroom warmer.

Edward finished his shower and was drying his hair with a towel. He walked toward the bar counter.

He poured himself a glass of red wine. His fingers holding the goblet, he slightly shook the red wine casually.

When he was about to take a sip, there was a hint of alert appearing in his eyes all of a sudden.

He saw Hailey run downstairs secretly.

At the same time, the Chihuahua beside his feet dashed toward her like crazy.

Edward’s villa was located in the center of the city near to the sea. Only the rich and honorable figures could afford such a villa here.

Hailey had thought that Edward already fell asleep. So she planned to sneak into his room to check Mark.

But unexpectedly, he was still awake. After she went downstairs, she saw the light in his room was still on. She was too afraid to make any movement.

He is still awake. What is he doing now? Is he punishing the poor and innocent Mark? she pondered worriedly.

When Hailey was standing there hesitantly, she saw Mark standing at the door. The moment it saw her, it dashed toward her quickly.

“No, no, no… Stop it, Mark,” Hailey screamed with a low voice.

She was afraid that Edward would discover her. But Mark was fortunate. When it dashed out of Edward’s room, the light in the living room was turned on all of a sudden.

When Edward walked out of his room, he heard Hailey scream with a low voice.

He squinted his eyes as he thought, How dare you come here at midnight now that you are being so afraid?

Edward had thought that the fierce dog would bite her. Unexpectedly, it circled Hailey happily as its tail shook excitedly. Sometimes, it even bumped her legs with its head.

He was relieved to see this as he relaxed his tight cheeks gradually. There was sadness and affection in his deep eyes which no one could detect.

Hailey had wanted to hug Mark and play with it for a while. But suddenly, she noticed Edward standing at the door. So she took her hands back from Mark.

Seeing her dog stay safe, alive and kicking, Hailey was relieved very much. She was more than pleased to see it intact.

“What are you doing here?” Edward asked.

He had already approached her when she was lost in her mind. Probably he came out in a hurry. His robe was not tied firmly. The tie was just hanging around his waist. His black hair was a little bit messy. With his chiseled features, he looked rather sexy and wild in the dim light.

This man was born to rule! He was so elegant with such a God-like face and good shape. He was bloodily charming.

When Hailey was studying his face, he was also staring at her.

Edward thought Hailey was too scared to speak because of the dog. So he said with a relatively gentle tone, “Hailey, say something.” His voice was not as cold as before.

“Well, actually…” Hailey stammered. She, of course, would not tell him that she came here for Mark.

She was not the before Hailey anymore.

“Actually, I am here to talk to you about something. Can I work in your company?”

Edward was shocked and speechless.

He looked to her feet and took out a cigarette. He lit it and took a deep drag before he blew the smoke out. He then said slowly, “Is this something you want to talk with me so desperately? You did not sleep and came here at midnight for this?”

Hailey did not realize that she was wearing a piece of sexy silk pajamas and a pair of cute slippers with some cute cartoon pattern on them.

That was really awkward. Hailey’s taste was beyond his imagination.

“Come in,” Edward said before he extinguished the cigarette. He then turned around and walked to his room.

Hailey received his message and followed from behind happily. It was not an unfruitful night, at the least.

The entertainment company of the Zhang Family was the ultimate target of Sully and Philip.

Hailey decided to play the piano during the birthday party for two reasons. The first was that she wanted to change everyone’s attitude toward her. The other one was in order to show her abilities to catch Edward’s attention.

She wanted to take revenge very much! It was enough for her to be a capable woman. She wanted to pay Edward back by becoming famous quickly. That way, she would defeat Sully and Philip in the entertainment field.

Hailey felt colder after she entered Edward’s bedroom.

The main color of his room was light gray and white, making people feel cold. It matched him very much, though.

In the past life, Hailey became a woman who only worshiped money as she dated Philip those years. Naturally, she was able to recognize all those valuable objects. Taking a glance at the surroundings in the room. she discovered that there were many precious decorations. They were luxurious yet elegant.

Such a decoration style indicated that the owner of the room had a good taste. It was revealing a sense of honor and elegance. Hailey did not notice it in the past. But tonight, she saw everything and enjoyed the style very much.

When Edward turned around and faced her with his face, Hailey quickly hugged Mark and kissed it.

Hey, buddy. I miss you so much, she said silently.

Mark, on the other hand, also responded with a happy howl. It stared at her as if it was laughing delightful.

Hailey knew it was happy. She rubbed its head sadly.

“Are you not afraid of it? I remember that you are always scared of dogs,” Edward suddenly asked.

“Ur, yes. I am. But this dog is a birthday gift from my father. I lost it and now it came back. So… So I’m not afraid of it now,” Hailey replied as she remained calm.

She understood that Edward was suspecting her. He was staring at her with curious eyes.

Hailey was on pins and needles. It was not until that time did she remember that she began to be scared of dogs after her father died.

So she was wondering whether she should stay away from Mark and pretend that she was still afraid of it.

Carefully, she stood up and moved to another side of the sofa. “Well… Actually, I’m still a little bit scared of it. It..”

“Don’t worry. It is already vaccinated,” Edward responded as he kept looking at her with a smiling face and affectionate eyes.

Afterward, he shifted his passionate eyes away from Hailey and looked to Mark. He called with an extremely soft voice, “Come here, Jill.”
