Lyla had an individual office. As the daughter of the principle of this university, she had this privilege.
The door closed. Lyla stared at Veronica, her eyes sharp, as if she could see through her. "Do you know what Crystal just said?"
Veronica tilted her head and replied with a smile, "She must have said that I made her do the laundry… or mop the floor. Things like that. Am I right?"
Lyla burst into laughter, complex feelings surging in her mind. She looked at Veronica as if she was staring at a stranger. "You've changed," she said. "But it is a good change. You seem to be much smarter than you were in the past. You look great now."
Lyla was not a good and moral woman. She fell in love with a married man and messed up a family which was supposed to be a happy one. But Veronica did not care about it. All she knew was that Lyla was kind to her. She still remembered that in her past life, Lyla gave her a large amount of money after she got burnt and kicked out from the Rou family by her own parents
Veronica was grateful for her from the bottom of her heart. "Thank you, Miss Bai."
I will show how ugly that married man's heart is sooner or later as a gift to thank you for helping me in my past life, Veronica thought.

It had been three days since Harrison was home last time.
Mary Hong and Claud Lee were his aunt and uncle. They thought their plan was perfectly performed and that Harrison must have died in the fire. So they got changed in a hurry and were about to go to the company to calculate how much Harrison had left as the heritage. They were the only legal legatees of the Hong family.
The house of the Hong family was big. There were an artificial hill and a fountain spraying hill in the courtyard. It looked like a small beautiful garden. The servants seemed to have known what happened. All of them were on pins and needles.
A hoot from outside broke the intense atmosphere. The gate opened and a familiar black car drove in slowly. When the driver finished parking the car, he got off. Mary and Claud were standing together intimately, her arm holding his. Her eyes opened wide immediately at the sight of the man. The smile on her face gradually disappeared too.
She muttered in surprise with a low voice, "No way! How could he be able to survive the fire? We've paid such a large amount of money to them!"
Claud thought more than that. He was more afraid that those people would tell the police or Harrison the truth. He and his wife would be identified as the murderers!
He had thought that if Harrison died he and Mary would be the rightful legatees to inherit his fortune.
Yes, that was this couple's big plan. Mary, the sister of Harrison's father, was such a heartless woman. She could not hesitate for even one second to kill her nephew for money.
Harrison looked at them, wordless. No one talked. Mary was crying sadly. The longer they remained silent, the stranger Claud felt. He locked his eyes on Harrison and would not miss any possible change on his face.
Mary had been crying for quite a long time. But her eyes remained dry, no tears inside them at all. Harrison was not a fool. He observed everything. But still, he walked closer to his aunt and patted her on the back of her hand. "I'm okay, Aunt. But where are you going? You seem to be ready to go out?"
He behaved normally as he used to do. Nothing special. Claud sighed in relief secretly. Great, Harrison did not suspect them. But the next second, Mary's reply almost choked him.
Mary never lived a hard life. When she was young, she depended on her brother, Harrison's father. After she got married, she depended on her husband, Claud. She did not need to worry about anything. All she cared about was how to make her skin look young and beautiful. There were few wrinkles on her face. She was not very tall. Now she just looked like a young woman at her twenties.
She wanted to show how much she was worried about Harrison. So she cried, "We haven't seen you for three days. We are going to the police station to report your missing! But unexpectedly, you came back when we were just about to set off."
What a drama queen she was.
Harrison smiled slightly. Ignoring his uncle who was showing complex expressions on his face, he asked again, "I remember that one can call the police if someone is missing for twenty-four hours. Why didn't you do it earlier?"
Immediately, both Claud's and Mary's faces paled deadly.
"Well, umm…" Claud tried to utter an excuse. But he failed to come up with a perfect one. Mary was also stunned. After a long time, Mary forced out an awkward smile and said, "We were kind of busy for the last few days. We didn't notice that you had been missing for three days, and…"
Before she could finish her words, she suddenly realized she said some improper words.
They had been busying for the last few days. But how did she know that Harrison had been missing for three days?
Their faces paled more. They could even hear their heart beating by their ears. They lowered their heads to avoid eye contact with Harrison. It was just too much for them to see right into his eyes.
"Oh, I see," Harrison chuckled. He then patted on the back of Mary's hand again. "Don't worry about me, Aunt. I'm back now safe and sound."
He did not mind them making up more excuses and telling more lies. He would deal with them slowly, step by step.
