    Chapter 6 She Found Him

She intended to rehearse her reaction when she met Harrison. But she was puzzled and had no idea what kind of reaction she would give. Should she show a happy and pleasant face? Or should she just pretend to be cool?

She was being afraid that what if she arrived at the haunted house too early and did not see him? What if her arrival interrupted those men's plan? If they changed their plan to dropped him at somewhere random and burned him there, could it be that she made him killed by others, though indirectly?

Her mind grew more disturbed as she kept thinking about all those terrible possibilities. How she wished she could see him safe right away. However, when she was busy parking the car in the parking lot outside the amusement park, there was a traffic jam.

Her car was stranded in the middle of the traffic. Neither could she move forward nor backward. Growing more and more worried, she raised her hand and checked the time on her watch. It was close to one o'clock.

The cars in the surroundings hooted one after another. The sharp noise only made Veronica grow more upset. Being drowned in the annoying noise, she tapped the wheel nervously with her fingers.

No, she couldn't keep staying in the car anymore! Waiting here would make no difference!

Determined, Veronica got off the car and took off her high heels. Grasping the pair of shining shoes with one of her hands, she dashed towards the amusement park barefoot.

A ticket was a must to enter the amusement park. Unfortunately, she left her wallet in the car. So when she tried to enter the park, the staff stopped her because she did not carry any ticket. She begged over and over again with a poor look, yet she was not allowed to enter.

She went mad uncontrollably. With great rage, she threw her shoes on the ground forcefully, making a clear sound. Her hands clutching at her hair, Veronica paced back and forth at the gate. Her beautiful high heels remained intact. They were still shining beautifully.

A passerby happened to see the shoes and recognized the brand. She screamed in surprise, "Oh, my gosh! Look! The shining shoes! The glass slippers! They are the latest spring shoes of Lay! I've heard that there is only one pair! And the price is one million!"

This pair of glass slippers was a back-to-school gift from Jasper. She liked them very much in her past life. But now… An idea sprang into her mind.

Veronica picked up the shoes and thrust them into one of the staff's hands. "They are yours now. Just let me in, please. I'm begging you."

The staff was taken aback. If they were really worth one million, it would just turn into a hot potato for him.

Seeing the staff make no response, Veronica decisively ripped down the crown on her hair. The pink crystal flickered with shining lights under the sunshine. It could be easily told from its appearance that it was by no means an ordinary decoration.

It was a birthday present from her mother, Anna, when she turned eighteen.

Veronica tucked the tiara into the hands of the staff before she anxiously said, "Here you are, the Anie tiara. Look at the sign, it's real. I promise!" Hurriedly, she showed the staff the sign on the tiara.

The staff felt a bit dizzy at the sight of the tiara. He immediately stopped Veronica who was about to take off her watch and murmured, "No, Miss. Please stop it. That's enough." Yes, totally enough! Only the diamond on the tiara was worth a dozen years of his salary!

The passersby in the surroundings took out their phones and recorded what just happened. They whispered and gossiped with astonished voice.

Veronica was able to get inside. She ran towards the haunted house as fast as she could, afraid that she might not see him. Her hair turned into a mess when she ripped down her tiara. Plus, she was running like crazy barefoot, which made her look like a psycho.

Finally, here she was. She approached the haunted house and saw a man standing in front of the door. It was no other than Harrison.

His hair was golden brown, slightly curly. He was very tall. Standing at the door of the haunted house, he was a head taller than those nearby. He was wearing a suit, with his hands in his pockets. His lines of muscles seemed to be visible through the suit. His face was taut and his skin was tanned. His expressionless face was warning everyone not to approach him. He had pale-blue eyes. If you took a closer look at him, you would consider him to be exotically handsome. However, you would not dare to look into his eyes because there was chill in his eyes.

Veronica's eyes found his. The familiar pale-blue eyes stopped her from running like crazy. She sighed in relief, thrilled to see him, safe and sound. She stood still, blinking her eyes at him.

The chill in Harrison's eyes faded away. He curled the corners of his mouth upward and a slight smile appeared on his face. He walked towards Veronica slowly.

He stopped in front of her, looking at her with loving eyes. Veronica didn't see her face clearly until she raised her head to gaze at him.

Harrison saw her barefoot. He reached out and lifted her off the ground. Putting his forehead against hers, he said with a low yet charming voice, "Here I am, with you. I would always follow you wherever you go."

This was actually the first time she had heard his original voice, this life and her past life. His throat was burned and destroyed by the fire in their past life. So every time he spoke, he would only let out a hoarse voice, just like a piece of iron scraped against a tile, sharp and horrible.

It turns out he has such a beautiful voice, Veronica thought happily.
