It felt so warm and soft. It was totally from the feeling when she was engulfed by the cold, rotten garbage dump. Veronica Rou comfortably adjusted her head lying on the fluffy pillow, a smile resting on the corners of her mouth.

What a beautiful dream, and it feels so real, she thought.

"Bang bang bang!" Seemingly, she heard someone knock at the door. She struggled to open her eyes, trying to identify the knock. But the next second, her eyes closed again.

She did not want to wake up. There was heavy snow last night. She and Harrison Hong hugged firmly, shivering because of the chill brought by the snow. It took a long, long time for them to fall asleep. She hated to wake up so soon.

As the knock became clearer, Veronica grew more impatient. She grasped the quilt and covered her ears, intending to get away from the annoying knock. A woman, standing outside the door, pushed the door open and walked in. She had been waiting for too long.

Sharp clicks burst out as her high heels landed on the floor made of the ceramic tile. It just sounded so impatient, so did the woman. She approached the bed and snatched the cover off. Taking a deep breath to make her look gentler, she said softly to Veronica Rou, "Hey, Veronica. Wake up, please. Jasper is waiting for you in the living room. Don't glue yourself to the bed, okay? Get up, sweetie."

It was a familiar yet strange voice. Veronica's heart could not help tightening the moment she heard it. All of a sudden, she felt a lump in her throat. Tears seemed to be welling up in her eyes. She opened her eyes and saw a beautiful face. It was not easy to tell that the owner of this face must have spent much effort in keeping it pretty.

The woman was smiling. Even though middle-aged, she still looked to be rather young without any wrinkles on her face. There were tenderness and softness in her eyes which were looking at Veronica Rou. She reached out, her hands fair and her fingers slender, and touched softly on Veronica Rou's forehead by using one of her fingertips. "Do something, Veronica. Get up and change your clothes," she said gently.

Yes, Veronica was dumbfounded at the sight of this woman. She had a gentle face. But that face haunted her every night during the past few years. She would smile at her tenderly, she would comfort her when she did not want to eat, and she would hug her and pat her on her back softly when she cried… But when she woke up from her dreams, she would only remember those cruel things this woman had done to her. Yes, this woman was her mother, Anna Yun.

There were tears in Veronica's eyes. She lifted the corners of her mouth, forming a sneer. Lowering her head, Veronica asked, "Anna, what are you doing here?" She then raised her head and looked at the woman and screamed, "You should feel afraid after all these things you have done to me! But why are you still haunting me in my dreams? Can't you just leave for even one night? I'm so tired! Just stay away from me, okay?"

Anna Yun was shocked by those mean words Veronica had uttered. She had no idea what her daughter was talking about at all. But soon, she interpreted it as a grumpy behavior when Veronica was woken up unwillingly. So she stopped being surprised and a perfectly gentle facial expression appeared on her face again. She took Veronica's hand and smiled, "Don't talk nonsense anymore. I know you are tired. But you have a date with Jasper today. Behave yourself, okay? You can sleep as much as you like tomorrow and I won't wake you up. I promise, deal?"

Being twenty-years old, Veronica Rou was a university student. Her peers were independent while she was more like a baby who needed to be taken care of. Her mother managed everything for her. She would even choose clothes for Veronica every day.

Anna Yun turned around and walked to the wardrobe. She pulled the door of the wardrobe open and began to pick up the clothes Veronica was going to wear today. After a while, she was done choosing clothes. All of them were pink. She aimed to dress her daughter the way a princess would dress. She wished her daughter to be a lovely girl so that everyone would like her.

Veronica, however, picked up a gray T-shirt and jeans which were the only simple clothes in her wardrobe. She said expressionlessly, "Stop it. I'm going to wear these today."

Anna Yun laughed behind her hand upon seeing the clothes in Veronica's hand. She took them away from Veronica, gently yet forcefully. "Be a good girl, Veronica. I'm your mother and I know what's best for you. These don't fit you." She then turned around and took a pink lacy short skirt and said, "Look at this one. You always like it, don't you? Put it on."

Veronica did not make a reply. She stared at the pink short skirt. There were white laces crossed. They were perfectly sewed to the pink cloth. It looked so beautiful, just like a delicate toy in the cabinet which would attract any children.

Anna helped her put on the skirt and then asked her to sit before the dresser. It was a pink dresser against the wall, three meters wide with a big mirror. Veronica looked in the mirror and saw Anna was carefully choosing the hair accessory for her. There were pink lacy hairbands, pink bowknot bands, and pink hairpins. All the things Anna had bought for her were pink.

Veronica couldn't help smiling. This dream seemed to be much more real than ever. Did I reincarnate with all my memories of my past life? Veronica wondered.
