Victoria was sitting in the school cateen with her friends, she was frowning because of the lockdown that has been announced, she hated staying at home with her parents who would always compare her with her brother John,her friends noticed it and asked her what was wrong.

Suzy: vic you seem unhappy about the lockdown.

Victoria: Suzy am very pissed off i can't stay at home with my parents they always loves to pick up on me.

lily: mum is sometimes like that but she knows when to stop.

vic: mum and dad doesn't want me to do what I like the see me as someone useless after the issue about”(Victoria stopped in her speech and lily finished it)

lily: do you mean that your parents haven't forgotten about that incident, immediately i apologized my parents accepted they have never brought up the issue since then.

Victoria: am going to be finished during this pandemic disease lockdown , mum won't stop saying i should have been like John.

Suzy:it would be fun cos my sister is coming over, I can't wait to learn new dancing steps from her.

lily: really? i wish I could come over to your house, what about you vic?.

vic: mum won't allow me to practice dance in the house talk more of going for dancing lessons she rather prefer i go for lessons on business studies.

( After school that students bade their friends good bye because it would stay some weeks before the lockdown would be over, Victoria and her friends promised to keep each other updated about their stay at home. Vic's face faded as the school bus drew closer to their house, she didn't know how to face her parents nagging she wished that there was no pandemic disease,on getting to the house she got down and strolled into the driveway she saw john from afar he was feeding the dogs, she felt a rumble in her stomach when her mom came out of the house, she approached quietly her mom saw and shouted.

mom: walk faster Vic John needs help with the dogs.(vic nodded she walked straight into her and kept her bag didn't bother to change her school uniform cos her mom was not the patient type,vic over to john

Vic: hey John,mom said you need help with the dogs.

John : really? don't worry I got this go change your clothes.(mom intervened)

mom: no John you told me you have some school work to solve, Vic can handle that.( John nodded and left, after vic was through with the dogs she went to take her bath and changed into some cool outfits she called her friends on video call suzy told them about her big sis who was her way back to Chicago, lily also told them that her mom promised to teach her how to bake when Vic was asked she said

Vic:i don't think this isolation would be any fun to me.

lily: how about john what is he up to during this period.

Vic: john is always focused on his science course he has load of assignments to solve.

(lily and suzy frowned) lily and suzy : we are really sorry but you can still do your dancing in your room if you are good enough you could join the online dance competition.

Vic: really! how did you guys know.

lily: Suzy said her sister is one of the coordinator so I decided we let you know.

Suzy: would you love to participate?(Vic's mouth opened in suprise she didn't know that she would have such opportunity when she remembered her parents her face fades, Lily and suzy frowned they have noticed her disappointment)

Suzy: what's the problem.

Vic: mum and dad won't agree

lily: this is your life and future you should try to tell them that this is your life you can't do with out it .

Vic: is not easy lily i have tried several times standing up to them but the brought up the case of the exam malpractice,i felt guilty maybe I shouldn't persuade them anymore.

Suzy: Vic i feel for you,I know how you feel but I still think you should do as lily said we are in the 21st century were children have the right to choose their career.(Vic sobbed)

vic: mum and dad thinks that it's an irresponsible career and it would be a disgrace to our family.

lily: is ok dear, I will always call to know how you are doing.

Suzy: same here Vic i will you the dancing competition form in case you change your mind.(vic smiled)

vic: thanks guys I don't know what I would have done it without you guys,i will really miss you two.(Vic's mom shouted her name that food was ready she told her friends“ guys I will have to go mom is calling good bye love you guys I promise to update you guys on how am faring with my parents.” (Vic rushed out immediately to help her mom bring the food to the dinning, her dad was downstairs already he was wearing a pair of glasses and has a newsletter on his hand he looked up at her.

dad: who were you speaking with on the phone.

Vic: dad i was speaking with my friends.

dad: I thought you guys saw today at school.

vic: dad were...(he cutted her short in her words)

dad: Vic you should concentrate More on your studies.(Vic nodded, she carried the plates to the dinning Mom brought the food and dished them out, everyone sat down on the seat after saying their prayers they began to eat in silence before mom broke the silence.

mom:Vic i hope you brought some books by with you.

Vic: yeah.

mom: did you get assignments to solve?.

Vic: mom assignments are not always given to us we read.

mom: really! but john has lots of assignments from his class teacher.
