“Samyan Cheung? I thought you had already left. Why are you still here?” “Ms Lindley, I must come say thank you personally,” Samyan Cheung hesitated and lifted her head to look around, “Please do not worry, no one saw me.” Cheung knew clearly what she’s doing. And she wouldn’t bring Shirley any unnecessary problem; afterall She still needed help from Shirley in the future.
“Please get in the car, Ms Lindley, before someone sees us,” Cheung looked around, got off from her car and opened the car door for Shirley.” “I told you to wait for my phone call, you are not supposed to come see me. What if Paxon returned and saw you talking with me? How can I explain?” “I wish you could help me. Let’s find a place to talk; Can’t talk here.” Cheung wanted to speak, but stopped; then she closed the door and they drove out of the parking lot.
They drove to a splendid coffee shop and then pulled over. Shirley Lindley looked at this place and said to herself it was my style. “Okay, tell me what you want?" Shirley sat down but she appeared impatient; she didn’t want to waste more time on Cheung, and she had many issues to deal with. “I owe you a big one, Ms. Lindley, If you didn’t come bail me out, I guess I would still be in the police station now. So I am very grateful for your help.” When Cheung was in the police station, she felt hopeless, desperate and didn't know what to do next. Then Shirley Lindley and Paxon Chevy showed up.
“Ms. Cheung, you have been working hard in my brother’s company and you are indeed an important employee. He must have been too strict to you.” Shirley furrowed her brows, shook her head and held Cheung’s hand; It seemed Shirley really cherished this employee and felt sorry for her bad luck. Cheung replied sadly, “I never blame Mr. Lindley. It is not his fault.” This woman still didn’t regret. How could she possibly accuse her ex-boss of anything? She wasn’t in any position to complain anything now.
“No. My brother wasn’t like this before. It must be that woman who had beguiled him. In fact I should be the one to apologize to you for what you have suffered. I must also convey my brother’s apology to you. Hope you will forgive us.” Shirley shook her head; her eyes were watery and her expressions were innocent and sympathetic. A stranger who never met her must believe that she was a kind and righteous person.
Samyan Cheung frozened and was surprised to see Shirley’s sincere performance. She thought Shirley might try to keep a distance from her to avoid further trouble. “Ms. Lindley. I am so happy you are here.” Samyan Cheung felt so touched and her eyes filled with tears. She felt so lucky that Shirley was with her now, otherwise she wouldn’t know what she would do. “Okay, just tell me your request.” Shirley smiled gently. She wasn’t stupid and she knew Cheung must come to her for a reason.
“I have lost my job.” Cheung lowered her head and continued embarrassingly. Her career at Lindley’s company was bright and secured; the salary and compensation were above average in the fashion industry. Now everyone knew she got fired and police was involved. There was no way she could find a job with similar remuneration in the foreseeable future.
“So you want me to help you find a job?” Ms Lindley seemed to understand Cheung’s concern and demand. In fact, it wasn’t difficult for Shirley to introduce Sam to work in another design firm. “Really? You can help me find a job?” Sam lifted her head; She was so desperate to get a job that if Shirley could help her, she was willing to do anything for her.” “Of course, it is easy. But…” Shirley hesitated because she didn’t know if Sam worthed the effort. Then she continued, “You must know my brother's temper and it is hard to change his mind; but I can talk to Paxon Chevy who can make some arrangement.”
Shirley mumbled to herself; now she had a good reason to talk to Paxon: it seemed this woman would still to be of some use. Sam took a breath and replied cheerfully, “Good. From now on, I will listen to you, you are like my boss. One more thing, you must watch out for Icy Wilkinson. Today in the hospital, Mr. Lindley was obviously on her side. You are his younger sister, but it seemed he loved her more.”
“How can you say that? Shirley reacted innocently and looked at Sam as if she didn’t understand what she was saying. “I think Icy is a nice person; we studied in the same high school; maybe she had just suffered from some trauma and now she behaved strangely. “
“Ms Lindley, you are too naive and kind. People out there wore masks and you could never read their heart. You must be more careful.” Sam exhaled and she thought to herself that Shirley was no match for Icy, who was definitely a better actress and more cunning. Shirley smirked and took a sip of her coffee. This was indeed awesome to have Sam working in Pax’s company. Maybe She could use Sam to brawl with Icy in the future.
In the hospital room, Icy packed your stuffs and looked around to make sure nothing left behind. “Mother, you are not fully recovered yet, don’t you think you should stay longer?” Tugging at his mother’s skirt, the little boy was very worried about the wound on his mother’s forehead. Lowering her head to look at her son, Icy smiled at him, squatted and patted on his head lovingly. “Oh, sweetie, mine is only a minor injury, also I am not used to living in this luxury hospital.” Icy’s concern was very reasonable; this hospital was very expensive; normal people couldn’t afford to stay here. She was only a novice in a design company and had a boy to take care of; she must budget her spending carefully.
Even little David couldn’t believe that his mother was ready to go home. Her head was still wrapped by bandages. “Be a good boy, and mom will recover soon," Icy whispered to her boy, hoping that they could leave before Mr. Lindley arrived to visit her, because she knew that Hosea wouldn’t allow her to leave the hospital either. “Mom, are you sure?” “Of course, David, have I ever told you a lie?” Icy smiled to David, rubbed his little nose and caressed his cheek. “Mama never lied to me.” David said firmly. “So, we can go home now?” Icy stood up and stretched out her arm to hold her son’s hand.
“Great, let's go home together!” Little David put his tiny hand in his mother’s palm. And they marched to the accounting department at the main level. At the cashier, Icy took out her credit card. Although she only stayed for one night, this hospital was aristocratic and well-known for its high price. She expected the bill to be expensive. “Ms Wilkinson, you bill had been settled already.” The accounting staff smiled and continued, “Actually, someone had used an unlimited company bank card to pay your bill, you can stay as long as you want, and all your expenses would be debited from that account. You wouldn’t need to pay for anything.”
“Someone had paid the bill for me? Can you tell me who? Is that Mr. Lindley?” The accounting lady seemed to feel tense, “I cannot tell, that gentleman said you don’t need to know; also we really don’t know who he is, he sent his assistant.” Icy was disappointed; she owed someone a favour again and she didn’t know who he was.
