Hailey was so shocked and immediately stood up. She accidentally touched Edward’s body.

Edward’s face, on the other hand, paled at once. Sweats started to come out on his forehead.

That night was the first night Hailey had slept well since she came back. She held Mark and had a good dream.

Someone knocked at the door when Hailey was lost in her mind.

“Hailey, are you awake?” It was a gentle voice. It was Rachael.

“Yes,” Hailey replied. The knock brought her back.

The next second, Rachael pulled the door opened and walked in.

Rachael had been wearing an elegant facial expression. However, the elegance was replaced by surprise immediately when she saw the lovely Mark on the bed. She screamed excitedly, “Oh my God! It’s so cute!”

Rachael’s eyes lit up at once. She rushed to the bed, trying to hold Mark in her arms.

Thinking that Rachael might not believe her, Hailey said to Mark with a soft voice, “Mark, don’t bark at Rachael. Understand?”

Mark did not stop barking until Hailey comforted it. It struggled and successfully pulled itself away from Rachael. Then, it ran toward Hailey and got down beside her feet obediently.

“It’s cute. It won’t hurt you,” Hailey said. “Would you like to try to hold it again?”

Being encouraged by Hailey, Rachael reached out her hands again. She rubbed Mark’s claws tentatively.

“Bark… Bark…” Mark also stretched out its claws. It seemed to want to shake hands with Rachael.

Rachael’s eyes lit up at once. That was really a lovely Chihuahua.

Hailey sighed in relief. She said to the dog, “Mark, this is Rachael. The three of us will get along well. Do you understand?”
