Chapter 23 Towering over Others

The crew had stopped filming for several days because both the leading actor and actress had fallen off the cliff. Edward was a hot shot star, therefore a lot of media stared at the crew the whole day. Since Edward spoke for Jasmine while she was mobbed by reporters last time, the trending had increased sharply. There was always someone trying to dig some sensational news between the leading actor and actress.

The director also knew relevant publicity should be given before the TV serials were released. However, it was better not to have such news as Edward and his gossip girl fell off the cliff while shooting scenes. Otherwise, there would be a lot of trolls against him.

Fortunately, they were both found and not injured seriously. Jasmine cared about the progress of filming so much that she asked for coming back for shooting scenes as soon as she recovered. The director admire her very much. Not only did she have good performance skills, but she took the interests of the whole into account as well.

Since Edward was still in hospital, the opponents play between the leading actress and the supporting actress had to be shot first.

This scene was the leading actress confronted and questioned the supporting actress, who she had treated as her own sister, after knowing she was betrayed by the supporting actress.

In the studio, Jasmine and Amanda stood face to face.

"You have grown up with me since we were children. Although I am the young lady and you are a servant girl, I’ve treated you the same as my own sister." Jasmine suddenly stepped forward, and stared straightly at Amanda, "What exactly have I done to cross you, and you dare try to get me murdered ruthlessly?"

What the director saw through the camera lens was the leading actress almost ate her heart out after learning the supporting actress, who she had treated as her own sister, betrayed and set her up. However, what Amanda saw was the woman in front, having a strong presence, was questioning her why she tried to get her murdered.

"Because, because you are shameless. It is because of you. I wouldn’t have ended up like this if it wasn’t because of you. Everything should have belonged to me. There are mine!"

"Cut! Amanda! What’s this bullshit? You have ten minutes to refresh yourself!" The director, who had been in this field for many years, immediately figured out what happened from scraps of Amanda’s words. It was obvious that she had a grudge against Jasmine, who had replaced her as the leading actress. What’s more, the leading actor of these serials was Edward.

"Eye candy is eye candy!" The director cursed in mind, "A good actress could shoot to fame even if playing a supporting role. However, a treacherous actress could only be dissatisfied and hated by others even if getting the leading role."

Since Amanda was scolded by the director, she had been speechless once playing opposite Jasmine. She acted worse and worse, which made the director curse God.

As a result, Amanda went back for a rest, while Jasmine started playing with others.

There is no lack of sophisticates nor gossips in the crew. There were not many people in the studio in the morning. However, the rumor had spread widely as knocking off in the afternoon. Staff in the crew became suspicious whether Jasmine had hooked up with Edward. Otherwise, how dare she go against Amanda openly? After all, everyone played a trick secretly. Some others claimed that Edward’s relations with Jasmine were pure. Amanda got Edward framed while she intended to set Jasmine up. After all, Edward was so picky that not everyone could he give a thought.

The rumor was told to Edward by Brad, and he hurried to get back to the crew.

"There is nothing you can do now! Take a good rest, so you can protect your girl." Brad was driven crazy. Every time Jasmine got an accident, Edward would look after her regardless of himself. Was is the power of so-called love?

"It is not a good thing that everyone directs their attack at Amanda now. Do you think she would spare Jasmine? She would only hate Jasmine more and go even further. I can’t allow my girl to be in danger any longer." Said Edward.

Not long after Edward was back to the crew, the rumor that Jasmine had excellent performance skills but she was not a real actress came into the ears of everyone in the crew like a wind, including Jasmine herself.

She regretted why she had lost her mind and confessed her love for Edward in hospital that day. How did she fall in love with the man? She was almost killed by others, and should she bear it silently and exhaust all mental efforts to cope with slings and arrows from rivals?

No, she would rather be a weak woman.

Having a drink in a small bar around the hotel, not until feeling dizzy and paralyzed did Jasmine joyfully get back to the hotel. She opened the door and found Edward inside. The air conditioner was off. Neither was the window open. However, a cool breeze brushed her face, made her shiver, and she suddenly became half sober.

"How did you get inside?" Asked Jasmine.

The question without any emotion made Edward feel they were like a couple who were quarreling with each other. The husband got his wife crossed, tried to cheer her up, but was scolded by the wife whose bark was worse than her bite. Somehow he felt a little happy.

"Brad gave the key-card. I am the boss of the hotel." Said Edward.

"Oh? Really? Is this the way how a five-star hotel entertains its guest? Well, haven’t you satirized me enough? And wanna do it again face to face?"

Sensing her anger, Edward stepped forward, and cuddled her in his arms no matter how hard she struggled. "It is all my fault. Not only did I fail to protect you, but I had to minimize the harm to you by this means as well. Now everyone directs the attack at you, and Amanda would only go even further and set you up. I had to disentangle myself from our relations, so that she would put down her hatreds a bit. After all, it is mostly because of me that she would set you up. However, I assure you that I would only take this emergency measure once. From now on, I would never let anyone else harm you."

The woman crying in his arms, Edward touched her back gently. For a moment, Jasmine raised her head and said, "Could you stop being so narcissistic? And it is all your fault, all your fault. If it wasn’t because of you, why would so many people trying to set me up?"

"Well, well, well, it is all my fault." Said Edward.

"Yes, it is." Jasmine wiped tears gently, "Am I rather ugly while crying?"

"No." Edward shook his head, "Very ugly."
