York Gu used to have the highest qualities in the company, however, his brother, Tam Gu was every girl’s dream guy now.

Tam seemed to be better than his younger brother. As he was few years older, he got the traits of a mature man— qualities that communicate his value as a mature, in-control guy.

However, Nell Su was not slightly affected by this atmosphere of admiring her boss. Instead, she worked very hard and tried her best to make everything perfect and smooth. Tam appreciated her very much.

Though Tam did not understand what Nell was thinking, judging from her work performance, he did not find any improper intention from Nell on York or him, it was all professional, not a slight personal emotion or romance.

Tam was curious about Nell’s background and ask someone to investigate for him. However, the private investigation was fruitless as all information seemed to be covered and blocked by someone. Most interesting thing was, the party who kept her information away from the rest seemed powerful, or at least powerful enough to prevent person like Tam Gu from getting the background of Nell.

This made Tam more curious about Nell.

What kind of family would raise a girl like her? She did not have any private emotions or relations other than work and be a better person.

Tam did not know whether these qualities were good or bad, but one thing for sure was that he did not know any ordinary person have these qualities.

This afternoon, Tam left office with tons of exhaustion and frustration about a natural gas investment project.

When he came home after work, he saw his wife was standing in the living room with anger, waiting for him.

“What is wrong?”

Tam did not want to talk to his wife as he did not want to know what she was unhappy about again. In order to show the curtesy and respect of a spouse, he asked his wife what had happened.

While waiting for his wife’s reply, he took off his shoes and jacket.

The housekeeper took his jacket and asked, “Mr. Gu, is it a long day for you? Should I give you a neck massage to relax a bit?”

“What?”

Usually Carla Lan would not care about housekeeper’s massage, but today Carla was different, she found housekeeper’s offer was offensive. “How dare you say that? So you want to say his wife, which is me, does not care about him at all?”

“You misunderstand me, madam. I did not mean that.”

The housekeeper was panic about Carla’s challenge and look at Tam, begging for help.

Tam also found Carla’s words offensive and hostile. He frowned and said, “What do you want? You were mad when I got back home. Can you spit it out directly if you have any problems? Don’t be peculiar and mean to ruin the evening!”

“I am peculiar to ruin your evening? So, should I leave you two to enjoy the sweet evening?”

Carla said bluntly and gave fake laugh. She was going to explode or ready for a fight.

Tam thought Carla was making trouble out of nothing and was fed up with her temper. He just left the fight and went to kitchen, “If you want to have dinner, come over. Don’t stand in the living room for nothing.”

Carla knew Tam was impatient with her. Though she was angry about something, she held her temper because she knew Tam would have greater aversion to her if she continued. So, Carla followed Tam to the kitchen.

“It smells so good today.”

Tam smelled something good in the kitchen. “It is West Lake poached fish. I have had it for a long time. Why do you make it today?”

The housekeeper gave a thin smile and said, “Madam knows that you like this dish very much. So, she deliberately asked me to cook this for you. I am not confident if my cooking is as good as before. Sir, madam, please enjoy your dinner.”

Then the housekeeper left the kitchen, leaving Tam and Carla there in the dining table.

Both Tam and Carla were not talkative when they had meals, but the silence in the dining table was more awkward than usual.

After a while, Tam broke the dead air and spoke, “Just tell me. What is the matter? Tell me if something or someone gets on your nerves that you have to lose your temper when I stepped into my home?”

Carla did not like the way Tam said but she knew if she corrected his wording, their relationship would be worsened.

She finally said, “Tell me. Your so-called senior administrative secretary Nell, what is the relationship between you and her?”

“She?”

Tam thought for a while. He did not expect that Carla was angry about this thing. He gave a thin smiled and explained patiently, “This senior administrative secretary, Nell Su, was employed and trained by York before I came. So, I will, without doubt, continue to give opportunities to developer her as a helpful secretary for York in the future.”

“Is that simple?”

Carla did not fully believe what Tam said, but her tone had softened a little. “But I heard from the staff that you work with her all the time. It’s beyond superior subordinate relationship, isn’t it?”

“You believe those staff or me?”

What Tam hated Carla most was that she always fabricated rumors, made troubles out of nothing and made groundless accusations against Tam’s personal qualities.

Tam did not good at or bother to explain himself, So, Carla always misunderstood him which jeopardized their relationship to an extend that it was almost impossible to be reconciled.
