Sean folded Gene's scarf carefully when he came back home and put it into a bag. He sat on the sofa for a long time, thinking nothing. He didn't get up until he felt cold.
A house would be cold without souls inside. It could never thaw out no matter how high the air conditioning temperature was. Sean snuggled under the quilt tightly, falling asleep in a daze.
Sean woke up suddenly in the middle of the night, and the headlamp in the bedroom was still bright and dazzling in the pitch-dark night. He looked at his watch. He had just slept for less than half an hour. But he couldn't fall asleep again and he felt even worse when he was sober. He couldn't help wanting to hear William's voice.
It was about five o 'clock PM in France this time, so he should not disturb him...... Sean lowered his eyelashes and pressed the number key one by one with his hand patiently. William was in his address book, while it seemed to be more earnest and ceremonious to dail his number like this. It was Sean's habit.
Someone answered the call after it rang for a short time. There seemed to be some tenderness in the man's deep and melodious voice: "You should remember to call me?"
Sean held the phone silently for a few seconds. They called each other frequently at first. At that time, they had no money to pay the phone fee, so the most happy and the most careful thing for Sean was to use the company's phone to chat with William for the trivial things. Although they could meet every night, but they also felt the day was too long. Later, it changed. They seemed to have nothing to talk about, but they kept feeling wronged and acting rashly without any cause. It was like that since you didn't talk with me, I would not talk with you then. Then things had come to such a pass this time------It was normal for them to be out of touch with each other even if they hadn't met each other for a dozen of days.
"I miss you." Sean restrained his emotions, feeling years in the few seconds and blurting out unexpectedly.
William stared. He hadn't heard such words from Sean for such a long time, and he seemed to feel a lump in his throat through the three characters. It seemed true, but also seemed illusory.
"I miss you, too. I've been busy these two days. I was afraid to disturb your rest when I'm free so I tried not to call you. I will try to hurry up. Come back to be with you as soon as possible." William said in a softened voice while feelings surged inside his heart.
Sean was not stupid. The excuses, no matter how perfect they were, were just to cover up his lukewarmness to him. William didn't send him even a short message. He was far away in France, with young boys around who he really liked. It was normal for him to forget home since he was accompanied by the pleasing boys in such a romantic country. While he, abused himself in the middle of night.
Sean pressed his lips, grunting his assent in a low tone.
Before he figured out what to say next, he vaguely heard a fuzzy voice through the phone: "Jiang...... Why haven't you finished calling. The dished are getting cold......"
The tone like a spoiled child. The clear and bright voice of a boy. It seemed that he had got impatient out of waiting.
Sean blanched. He thought, William must cherish that boy so much. Even he never tried to disturb William's call in the past.
There was a sudden silence on the other end of the line, without any noise.
Sean tried to steady his voice. He still didn't have the heart to embarrass him: "Beijing has cooled down these two days. It's severely cold. Call me when you get back. I'll pick you up at the airport and cook you radish and sparerib soup."
"Lovely boy. I love you so much."
Sean smiled and then yawned: "Alright, alright. Go ahead with your stuff! I'm sleepy."
William said good night with a gentle voice.
Sean didn't fall asleep all the night, feeling his heart was digged out by a blunt knife. In the second half of the night, Sean walked around the room, but did not know what he was looking for. Finally he was fagged out, sitting on the cold floor of the living room and crying like a child who had lost the whole world. Sean bit his lip with his thin shoulders trembling severely. He stuck a warm paste on his chest when he was crying, so that his heart would not freeze out of cold.
Sean fell asleep early in the morning while getting a serious fever at the same time. He was totally unconsciousness.
Retribution came. Sean smiled with relief. He had driven his parents away in a rage, given up his dream, lost everything, and fallen in love with a man who he should not love.
The phone rang. It took a long time for Sean to react before reaching out for the phone: "William...... I'm dying of pain......"
"Don't leave me......"
"I'm obidient......"
"How can you lie to me?" Sean eyes turned red. It was hard to restrain the emotions once they burst out.
"Sean! What's the matter? Where is your home? I'll be right over!"
It was Gene...... Sean was dazed. He still trusted Gene subconsciously, so he told him the address brokenly and then fell asleep again.
Sean took a locksmith over. When he opened the door, Sean was still in sleep.
Looking at the emaciated man became smaller as he curled up out of cold and there were still tears covering on his pale face, Gene frowned tightly. He went closer, only to find the phone was still on.
Gene stoop and picked him up off the ground. He was too light. Sean's cheek pressed against his chest meekly. It was so hot, which made his heart melt.
He really fell in love with him. Gene confirmed.
