York Gu’s mother heard that both of her sons shared the burdens together for her. She smiled with satisfaction.

At dinner, York’s father was as serious as earlier today. He read the financial papers while putting food into his mouth. He did not really into the conversation with his family.

The atmosphere was tensed which made York wanted to escape from the dining table in the middle of the dinner. But he knew that his father was not angry with him or gave him a hard time, he breathed a sigh of relief.

York looked cold from the outside who was not into anything. However, his family all knew what York cared about his father’s approval.

York and Tam was trained by their father as the heir of the family company. Tam’s business talent was not as good as York’s. So, their father spent much more time on York to develop him as the heir which made Tam’s life much more easier with less pressure.

York’s father had high expectation and standard on him. If he had done something wrong, he would be severely punished, including locking him in a dark small room in the middle of a meal.

These bad memories all became his nightmare which was too pain to share with anybody.

Because of this memory, York dared not to disobey his father. He could only listen to him, no matter it is right or wrong, good or bad to himself.

Tam felt sorry for his younger brother about his life, so he was willing to help his brother in the dark to make him feel better every time.

In fact, it was not the first time that York’s father asked one to replace the other. It has happened before, but it was Tam who was replaced by York as internship.

On the next day morning, York woke up. He washed his face and brushed his teeth. When he was ready to have breakfast, he suddenly realized that he was a jobless man. Thinking of this, York decadently lay on his bed and gave a deep sigh. He said to himself, “Now I really don’t know what I should do. Suddenly I am so free. It feels so strange that I can’t get used to it.”

The other side, Nell Su woke up and got dressed as usual. Then she went to the company and had breakfast at the canteen.

When Nell came to the company, she found that there was a group of people talking about something.

She was curious and walked to them to have a look. She found that they all came from the personnel department. She asked them, “Why don’t you get in? What are you doing at the door?”

“Haven’t you heard about it? Our boss has been replaced by someone else.”

One girl from the personnel department who was in a good relationship with Nell came closed and whispered to her ear, “We are here to welcome the new boss this morning, and to figure out who he is.”

“Replacement?”

Nell was shaken up by this piece of explosive news. She was speechless and did not know what to say.

“Yes.” The girl kept saying, “The rumor said that the new boss is Mr. Gu’s elder brother.”

Nell was lost in thought. Then finally asked with caution.

“Why does York… No. Why does Mr. Gu leave the company out of sudden?”

Nell always wanted to keep a professional distance with York in front of people. But out of curiosity, she still wanted to know the reason of his leaving.

The girl shook her head with confusion. “I have no idea too.”

At this time, they saw a low profile and luxurious black Jaguar coming.

“He is coming…”

When they spotted that the car plate number was familiar, they whispered in surprise, “It is the same car … The new boss drives Mr. Gu’s car.”

Nell knew that it would be inappropriate for her to stay here. She took the lift and went to the office to wait for new boss’s arrival.

Nell was in pin and needle for the whole morning waiting for her new boss In the office. The lift door finally opened. A bunch of people were stuck in in the lift.

“This will be your office.” Secretary Yang said to the new boss, York’s elder brother, then opened the door of York’s office and led him in.

Nell inquiringly looked up. The man stood in front of her was strong and handsome. There was fortitude and steadfastness on his face which showed the strength mind that enabled him to encounter difficulties or bear pain with courage.

Nell hesitated for a while and said, “Hello, I am York’s administrative assistant. I helped him with his daily business issues. My name is Nell Su. If there is anything I can help, please let me know. How can I call you?”

“Tam Gu”

Tam just opened his mouth and said in a flat tone. He scanned Nell from head to toe. According to what York said yesterday, the root cause of this arrangement was the woman now standing in front of him.

Nell was smart enough to smell the hostility from Tam. She knew that Tam saw her as a threat or at least an enemy. And Nell understood that it was not the right time to explain further to her new boss. She did not want to dig herself into a deeper hole by saying something stupid.

Given she was still an employee in the company, had not been sacked away, she decided to deliver some achievement in the coming time, to prove to the company, including her new boss, that she got to this position by her own strength.

knowing the unwelcomed face of Tam, Nell could do nothing but bowed and said, “If you don’t need anything from me, I will leave the room and took the reports for you to familiarize the handover. Please let me know if you have any other questions.”
