Sean casually found a barber shop, which was not big but warm enough. There were not many customers, and Sean was the next.
"I just want it a little shorter." Sean looked into the mirror and said in a lighttone. He knew that chemotherapy would cause severe hair loss, and it might be the last time for him to manipulate his hair normally.
The barber was a taciturn man, who was quite skilled and finished it in less than a quarter of an hour. Then he said with praise: "Your hair is really good."
Sean smiled and paid. He thought about William when pushing the door to go out, who relished rubbing his hair at schooltime. His big hand patted and ruffled his hair on the top of his head, just like fondling a puppy. William also praised his hair as ebony and soft.
Sean hummed a tune lightly, which he heard several years ago. He wended his way on the road with a soft smile on his face, trying to find some of the vigor and joy he once had. He liked a song called Sailor. He hummed the tune over and over again with red eyes and light voice: "The trials and tribulations were no big deal in the tempestuous life......" Sean felt himself foolish again.
At the subway station, Sean suddenly saw a shoebox in the entrance. He could hear some bumps when walking closer...... There must be some animals inside.
Sean opened the box carefully, almost pausing his breath------ Inside were four baby cats. They must have been abandoned.
Sean loved fluffy little animals most, but William detested them and got mysophobia when seeing them. But this time Sean hesitated severely. They would certainly die in such bad weather if no one fostered them. What's more, Sean really wanted to be wayward for one time for himself.
Finally, Sean took them home. He was in a good humor and bought some goat milk powder and cookies in the supermarket downstairs to feed them first. Fortunately, all the kittens seemed to be in good health and quickly recovered in the warm room, pushing and shoving in a baby tone.
Sean cut four different colored ropes to tie them one by one. He soaked and softened the cookies with goat milk to feed them, which clung to his hands after tasting the delectable food like little pigs. Sean touched their pink pads with his fingers lightly, feeling quite fantastic. He had never had such close contact with any animals. They were so cute.
William came back to see Sean sleeping on the sofa in the evening, and four furry things were lying on his body with light snores.
"Sean He!" William frowned and stood still in the doorway.
Sean suddenly woke up: "What's wrong?"
"Who allowed you to bring such things home? Throw them out!" William said furiously, throwing the briefcase on the side of the shoe closet. He was an autocratic man who could bear no disobedience.
Sean drooped his eyelids, showing some loneliness : "Throw them to where?"
William was not afraid of being contradicted toughly, but he just lost his bearings when Sean handled him so tenderly. He couldn't get mad at him at all but just softened his voice: "Sean, they were dirty. After they grow up, they'll trouble you so much. Be good, Sean. We don't need them."
"I really want them......" Sean pressed his lips with no concession.
"You......"
"William, don't you know me? I wanted to keep a pet when I was young, but my family didn't agree. At that time, I thought, when I have a family, I will definitely get a dog or cat."
William paused: "Be good, Sean. We still have a great life even if we don't keep a pet in the past years. We'll keep one in the future, alright? I'll get you a nice one."
Sean looked at him with his eyes turning red suddenly: "I don't want it in the future. I want it now."
"Jiang. Please."
There was a thump in William's heart. He said nothing then and changed the shoes, walking straight to the study. Sean knew that he acquiesced.
Actually, William knew that Sean was docile at the most of the time. He seldom coddled Sean except when they first fell in love, and gradually he just took everything for granted.
