“Mr. Gu, I know what I should do with my family. You don’t have to worry about me.”

Nell did not accept York’s advice. On the contrary she thought that York interfered too much about her personal life which she did not like. So, she just rejected him.

Seeing Nell was being stubborn, York knew he had said too much. If he further pushed her, it would only bring negative effects. Therefore, he chose to shut his mouth and asked Nell to send the document.

After sending the file to the Human Resources Department, she left the company.

What Nell had to do today was to go to the department store to do some shopping and buy decent outfits for work. Otherwise, just like York said, when she represented her company to attend official meetings with other companies, they would not respect her at all.

Nell did not have much knowledge about business environment, but she knew some basic social etiquette .

On her way to the department store, Nell took out her phone and made a call to Mary.

“Ringing, ringing, ringing.”

Mary picked up the phone after three ringing sounds. She answer in a lazy tone, “What can I do for you?”

Nell could hear the impatience from her mother. She still asked her patiently: “Mom, I just want to know whether the fifty thousand dollars I’ve sent to sister earlier have been received yet?”

“Why are you calling to say crappy words? If I don’t get the money, I will make the call to urge you for sure.”

Obviously, Mary took every Nell’s favor for granted which hurted Nell. But she did not show it to her mother. Instead, she answered her gently, “Alright mom, I got it. I just want to confirm. It’s fine if you have already received the money. I don’t have other things to say.”

“Okay.”

Mary cut off the phone immediately when she heard that Nell did not have other things to say, as if there was some kind of dangerous virus on the other side of the phone that she wanted to keep away from it as soon as possible.

Nell wanted to remind her mother about the weather and to put on more clothes. But when she opened her mouth, the phone had already been hung up.

She gave an embarrassed laugh to herself. She understood that her care and kindness to her family was nothing in their eyes.

She gave a long sigh, breath our all her disappointment. Then she wanted to focus on something which made her happy, for example her current assignment, shopping for new outfits. Then all unhappiness was swept away from her mind.

“Hello madam, what kind of clothes do you want?”

When Nell entered the department store, the shopping assistant came to her with a smile and asked her. But Nell could feel the disrespect of the lady from her eyes and tone.

“I want to get some fashionable suits for work.” she answered the shopping assistant without looking at them. She did not want to show respect to those who despised her. She looked around the whole department store instead.

“Then Madam, how much is your budget? I can show the appropriate area of apparel.” The shopping assistant exquisitely said this. Nell knew this woman thought that she could not afford those pretty clothes. And she did not want to waste time on her.

Nell just smiled with her canine teeth. “Money is not a problem. So long as the quality and the design are good. I will buy them all.”

Nell said this with little bit arrogance. It also let the shopping assistant know her impression on Nell was completely wrong. The shopping assistant hastily said: “With your words, I know what to do. Please follow me. I will lead you to the luxurious apparel area.”

Nell did not reject and follow the shopping assistant and walked passed different areas in the department store.

When they arrived the luxurious area, Nell saw a familiar person who was clustered round by a bunch of shopping assistants. She found that the lady was York’s fiancée Carol Li.

Nell reluctantly forced a smile. She thought that she got such a bad luck today.

But If Nell turned around and left the department store now, what she had said to the shopping assistant at the front door would be a joke. After considering a while, Nell thought it was not something that could not be handled, so she just walked towards her with her head held high.

Before Nell stepped into the luxurious area, Carol had already noticed her. Then she said in her usual mean tone, “Oh Dear! Isn’t that…? What’s her name again? Let me think a while…”

Carol Li’s behavior made the shopping assistants around her burst into laughers. “Miss Li, this kind of girl doesn’t deserve to be remembered. She dresses so shaggy.”

But the shopping assistant who led Nell to the area felt panic when she heard what they said about Nell.

It was the rule of the department store was that customers are God. These shopping assistants made such comments on their “God” would sound inappropriate. And most importantly, it would make Nell angry.

So, the shopping assistant took a glance on Nell at her back with worried eyes. However, she found that Nell did not show any emotions on her face. She breathed a sigh of relief and said to Nell, “I am sorry, madam, These shopping assistants are new here. They are just ignorant. Please forgive them.”

“It doesn’t really matter.”

Nell gave a warm smile. Then she walked towards Carol Li and said: “Hello, I am Nell Su. We met in Mr. Gu’s company before. I am his senior administrative assistant.”

“Humph!” Carol Li snorted arrogantly and rolled her eyes. She would never show a nice face to Nell, “Do I need to remember who you are? I don’t need you to introduce yourself here!”

Nell was given a cold shoulder, but she did not get angry. She just smiled and nodded to show that she knew it. And then she turned around and walked to the other side of the area and left Carol Li alone.

As Nell did not respond to Carol’s words which made her even angrier, because no one would turn her back on her. Nell was the first one.
