Sure enough, Tina was Mary’s sister. Now I was no longer Shirley, but I could not abandon what Mary had and use her body to live as Shirley.
Anyway, I was grateful to Mary. She gave me her body and disappeared forever.
"Oh, just finished, err… I’ll be back soon. My phone is powered off. Bye." I harried to hang up. Acting was easy for me, but I felt quite guilty to tell a lie in reality.
"Are you going back? Back to her house?" Kevin pointed at my body, incredulously.
I nodded firmly, " Of course."
"You sure? What if something goes wrong? And how can you find the house?" Asked Kevin.
I opened Taobao on my phone and saw the receiving address. I happily waved my phone, "Fool! Why not find it earlier? Kevin, I have to go, bye."
Kevin stopped me, "Call me if necessary!"
I patted him on the shoulder and said, "Don’t worry. And remember to call me Mary outside."
I took a taxi and arrived at Mary’s house about an hour later. I looked up at the old building, took a few deep breaths then went up.
The door opened, I walked in slowly and looked around. It’s only a small two-bedroom house, but the indoor decoration was more comfortable than it looked like.
It was Tina, Mary’s sister, that opened the door. I looked at her carefully, still childish, maybe just came of age. But Tina and Mary did look alike.
I went into the living room and got familiar with the structure as quickly as possible since I could not act like a guest, which depended on my experience in film over the years.
I put my bag on the sofa, sat down and drank, trying to be natural. Tina complained and went to the kitchen, "Why so late today? The food is still here, I’ll take it for you."
"Where’s dad and mom?" I asked.
"Mary, what’s wrong with you? They have been gone for two years. You drank again, right?" Tina said as she set the table.
I see… their parents had passed away, that was, there were only Tina and Mary in this family? It seemed that Tina was still a student, then the burden of supporting the family fell on Mary, no wonder she had to take so many advertisements.
I felt nervous, answered quickly, "Oh… Yeah, just a little."
Tina pushed me to the table and said, "I know that as soon as I opened the door. Now, listen, I have something to tell you."
Thanks to the alcohol the girl put on me when I was on the set so that I could get away with it now. I sat down and looked at the food. It wasn’t pretty, but the smell made me hungry. Such home cooking was a rarity for me, compared with the packed lunch I ate from the cast and the delicate dishes in the restaurant all year round.
Without hesitation, I picked up my chopsticks to eat and asked Tina what happened. She took a deep breath and said, "I got a boyfriend."
"Boyfriend? Good news. How’s that guy?" I asked casually.
Tina was shocked and stood up, "But you didn’t agree with me to do it during college! What’s the matter with you today? So strange…"
I was so frightened by her words that I quickly put down my chopsticks to think about how to answer, "I opposed it before and it was all for you. But now I know you have grown up, it’s up to you. I used to think that our parents were gone, we could not choose but depend on each other, I just couldn’t live without you."
"Dear… thank you, I want to live with him, but I worried that you have nothing to eat after work." Said Tina, holding my hand.
I was touched by her, a total stranger. What if Tina knew her only sister had also gone forever?
When I was Shirley, I was just like Mary. No parents, no sisters, I had to make a living by myself. Now that I became Mary, I not only wanted to help her live a happier life, but also her sister.
I held Tina’s hands, smiled, "It’s ok for me. If you think he’s good enough, I’ll agree."
Tina smiled immediately and refilled my bowl. I enjoyed the meal very much, the happiness was different from acting, at that moment, I was Mary.
Without labels like popstar or movie queen, just an old building, a simple meal, and a lovely sister, to be honest, I was a little envious of Mary.
