After returning to school from Shen Linyuan's house, Chu Feng's first task was to rush into the bathroom and thoroughly wash himself inside and out.
As he washed, his heart grew colder and colder. Certain memories flashed back in his mind, and it happened earlier this morning. He had been fast asleep when someone carried him into the bathroom and cleaned his entire body.
The sensation of the palm still seemed to linger on the skin, mixed with the foamy lather of the shower gel—wet, slippery, and sticky, making one nauseous.
He vigorously shook his head, hoping to shake off the terrible memories from his mind. Then he lifted half a basin of cold water and poured it over his head, drenching himself completely.
He was frozen, his lips turning purple, yet vivid scenes kept taking root in his mind, each one incredibly clear.
He couldn't help but burst into silent tears, as scalding tears streamed down his face, agitating his cheeks that were already numbed by cold water, causing a burning pain.
He went crazy and turned the shower head to the maximum, pouring the icy cold water from the top of his head down, taking away the warmth from his body and gradually dissipating his thoughts.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
There was a sudden sound of someone kicking the door, and quickly, the voice of my roommate, Ajie, came through.
"Have you finished washing for such a long time? Water isn't free, you know! If you cover all the expenses, even if you die in there, it's still fine by me!"
Chu Feng wiped the water off his face awkwardly, and his drifting consciousness was pulled back into reality.
Nothing can be washed away, nothing can be changed. The ex-girlfriend who broke up, the filthy body, the terrible roommate, these ugly realities still exist nakedly.
He dressed himself, walked out, the fabric rubbing against parts that had been excessively used, every step reminding him of where others had once intruded.
Shame, embarrassment, guilt, self-blame – even the gaze of his roommates felt like knives, as if his secret had already been discovered.
My roommate, Ajie, said angrily, "Finally decided to come out, I thought you were going to wash until dawn."
Chu Feng, with a pale face, remained silent, his throat hoarse.
Damn, what a weirdo." Ajie has always been unable to tolerate him, a silent and short guy, so he takes the opportunity to make trouble.
Another roommate stepped forward to advise, "It's alright, Ajie. Chufeng, he usually scrimps on his daily expenses, only being a bit more openhanded when it comes to water and electricity. After all, we all split the bill for utilities. Don't dwell on it too much."
This persuasion had a worse effect than no persuasion at all. A-Jie kicked the chair so hard it made a deafening noise. "So being poor gives you the right, huh?"
Chu Feng couldn't help but say, "I didn't intentionally waste it. I know I use more, so I always pay extra for the water and electricity..."
"Is it enough to just make more friends? You're the most diligent at taking baths and doing laundry every day. Why do you, as a grown man, wash so frequently? Even when we play basketball, we don't shower every day like you do! And your clothes, are they stained with feces or urine that you have to wash them every day? You also stay up late reading until one or two in the morning without turning off the lights. I'm telling you, we're in college now, why are you pretending? I think you're the one who uses up most of the dorm's electricity and water! Why don't you pay for it all?"
Some of the dissatisfaction may have been pent up for too long, only to burst out today. After the impatient A Jie finished speaking, the others chimed in as well.
Also, Chu Feng, what Ajie said does make some sense. The rest of us are out all the time and sometimes don't even come back. You're the one who spends the most time in the dormitory every day. I bet you're the one using most of the water and electricity. It wouldn't be unfair if you paid for it all, right?
AJie snorted, "He can afford it all? Hah, this poor guy can afford it all? He only knows how to take advantage! Otherwise, his girlfriend wouldn't have been unable to stand him running off with someone else!"
Mentioning his girlfriend, Chu Feng immediately becomes like a cat whose tail has been stepped on.
"Don't bring her into this!"
"What are you yelling about? How dare you challenge me, brat!" A-Jie grabbed Chu Feng's collar, his towering figure almost lifting Chu Feng off the ground.
"Do you want to die?"
