However, what Zhuang Ling didn't expect was that the next day he would end up empty-handed. When he asked at the front desk, he found out that Shu Boheng had been discharged early in the morning.
This made him extremely angry. He couldn't even get out of bed yesterday and was in such excruciating pain that he almost died. And yet, today, he was unexpectedly discharged from the hospital!
After a moment of contemplation, he quickly realized where Shu Boheng had gone, and hastily hailed a taxi to the headquarters of the Shu family after leaving the hospital.
When Zhuang Ling arrived, it had just started lightly snowing. The already cold weather suddenly became icy and piercing. He worried about Shu Boheng's fragile body and feared that he wouldn't be able to withstand it. He hastened his pace and took the dedicated elevator to the top floor. After bursting into the office, he saw Shu Boheng lying face down on the table, his head buried in his arms. His right hand was still placed on the mouse, and it was unclear whether he was sleeping or unconscious. Even with such commotion, he didn't wake up. Various bottles of medicine were scattered on the table along with a few white pills, as expected.
Zhuang Ling walked over with a trembling heart, reached out to touch him, and softly called out to him a few times, but there was no response. Just as he became anxious and was about to support him by placing his hand on his shoulder to help him up, Shu Boheng made a slight movement and finally lifted his head.
"Zhuang Ling? Why are you here again?" He had just woken up, his vision slightly blurry, and he looked at Zhuang Ling in this damp state, making Zhuang Ling's heart skip a beat.
He frowned and said, "If I didn't come, would I just stand by and watch you kill yourself?"
"It has nothing to do with you."
"How can it not matter? Shu Boheng, I know you're sulking with me, but your health is your own. If you don't care, how can you expect others to care?"
"...So what you mean is, I've fallen to this miserable state all because of my own choices? Hm... I understand now, you can go." Shu Boheng lowered his gaze, no longer looking at him. It turns out that after all the long and silent waiting, it only earned him a mere "indifference." Zhou Cheng was right; no one could be crueller than Zhuang Ling.
Having been in the business world for ten years, I never expected to be outwitted by the person in front of me.
He lost, and he lost miserably.
"Shu Boheng, I... I didn't mean it like that! I just wanted you to take a break... I..."
"I understand, you can go back now." At this time, Shu Boheng had already sat up, his gaze returning to its previous calm and sharpness, with a faint hint of aloofness.
"You…" Just as Zhuang Ling was about to say something else, the rhythmic sound of knocking suddenly resounded.
"Come in."
"President Shu, the managers are already waiting for you in the conference room. What would you like to do...?"
"I'll be right over." Shu Boheng reached out and grabbed his suit jacket draped over the armrest as he tried to stand up. Unexpectedly, he got up too quickly and briefly blacked out in front of his eyes. His body swayed, about to fall down, but Zhuang Ling quickly caught him, saying, "Shu Boheng! Are you okay?"
Shu Boheng closed his eyes and steadied himself before discreetly freeing his hand from his grip, taking a step towards the door.
Zhuang Ling stood behind, staring at his tense back in a daze. Suddenly realizing that she wanted to catch up with him, she was blocked by the secretary, who stood three steps away from him.
"Get out of the way."
"Mr. Zhuang, please don't make things difficult for us."
Who is causing trouble for whom now? Haven't you seen how your boss is struggling like this? And yet you still make him attend the meeting? Is your company incapable of functioning without him? What are those executives even doing?
"Mr. Zhuang, you really have a sense of humor. The decision to have a meeting was made by General Manager Shu, and it's not something we subordinates can interfere with. Besides, if the boss has achieved such success, Mr. Zhuang, aren't you indispensable?"
