Yan Zizheng moved quickly, taking two big steps to rush out and drag a person who had already stepped into the 18th class back door.
Lin Jinglei, who was about to speak to his classmate at the door, was forced to swallow his words when he was unexpectedly attacked.
In the noisy interval between classes, the hallways were filled with students bustling about. Over here, two boys got into a conflict, attracting a crowd of onlookers who were not afraid of trouble.
"Let go!" Lin Jinglei struggled while bellowing.
Yan Zizheng tightly grabbed Lin Jinglei's clothes, the frosty expression in her eyes fixedly staring at the person in front of her. She asked coldly, "Do you think you can just run away after beating me?"
"I didn't fucking mean to!" Lin Jinglei glared back angrily, reaching out and grabbing Yan Zizheng's clothes. It was a genuine slip of the hand, but seeing that it hit Yan Zizheng, he couldn't help but take pleasure in the misfortune.
The sound of tearing clothes filled the air as they struggled, and everyone surrounding them scattered as if they had seen a ghost. Lin Jinglei knew that a teacher must have arrived, but he didn't let go. He didn't want to back down first. He didn't even shift his gaze, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw a figure quickly approaching.
Liu Zhihe lifted his foot and gave a kick to each of the two students who seemed glued together: "It's you two again, haven't you cleaned the windows well enough? Let go of each other!"
The two boys let go at the same time. Liu Zhi and Huo Tai pushed away the lingering students around them and turned around, shouting loudly at the two who were still standing there, "Stand in the corridor!"
I heard that the head of education went ballistic. Yu Zhaoyu, who was playing mobile games in his room, got up and went out through the back door to take a look. He saw Yan Zizheng and Lin Jinglei standing at the entrance of two classrooms, which made him understand that these two had started fighting again. He whistled at Yan Zizheng and said, "Are you fucking stupid? Can't you make a scene outside the school gate?"
Yan Zizheng stood against the wall, glancing at the person several meters away who had the same posture as him. He couldn't wait to leave the school grounds. This kid was becoming more and more arrogant; he should be dealt with directly. Even if he faced punishment, he didn't want to be left behind.
Qiao Fengzi walked over from the corridor just as Liu Zhihe was passing by. She heard that someone in her class had gotten into a fight in the corridor and was punished by having to stand. She smiled and said a few kind words to the principal, then glanced at Lin Jinglei with a stern face before entering Class 17 for class.
In the summer, dragging its tail, the weather was still somewhat hot. The sunlight spilled onto the clean tiles of the corridor, dazzlingly bright. Every now and then, the sounds of teachers lecturing and students reading aloud would echo out from various classrooms. Two boys leaning against the wall looked outside through the corridor windows, bored.
On the second floor, turning right from the main staircase leads to classes 10 to 18 of the first year group. Turning left leads to the teachers' offices. Unluckily, the office of the head of the first year group is also on this floor, otherwise he wouldn't have been caught red-handed on the spot. Lin Jinglei lowered his head and glanced at the torn short-sleeved school uniform at his waist, cursing in his heart, "How dare they charge so much money for this poor quality."
In class 17, the last period in the morning was a math class. During the break before the third period, Zou Jing first threw his books onto the teacher's desk, and then went out to the corridor to call Yan Zizheng, who was standing there as punishment, to the office.
In less than ten minutes, he planned to have a simple chat with this child.
The independent office provided by the class advisor created a good private space. Zou Jing sat back in front of his desk and looked at the unruly teenager standing there and asked, "Do you enjoy fighting?"
Yan Zizheng remained silent, looking at the potted plant diagonally in front of him with a nonchalant expression, as if he was just here for a visit.
Zou Jing frowned: "Did you only enter here with a high score just to fall?"
Yan Zizheng remained calm and composed, he had nothing to say to this lousy teacher.
"Skipping classes, getting into fights, sleeping in class, and handing in blank exam papers, is that how you, Yan Zizheng, are supposed to behave?"
"Why can't it be him?" Yan Zizheng sneered. "Why should he be defined by others?"
Zou Jing remained silent for a while before slowly speaking again, "If Teacher Chang found out that you are like this now, I'm afraid he would be very sad."
The young man's expression finally changed. Instantaneously, complex emotions filled his sharp and distinct face. There was excitement, anger, determination, and also sadness.
"Can someone lend me a bookbinding tool?" Yu Zhaoyu peered outside the door, glanced down the hallway, then quickly turned back and said, "Hurry, anyone?"
The school bell has already rung, however, their class teacher has not yet returned for class. The students inside the classroom are all waiting. The originally quiet environment was disrupted by a shout from Zhaoyu, and immediately, voices speaking could be heard.
Ban Dai is the boy wearing glasses sitting in the front row. He has a scholarly demeanor but lacks any sort of charisma. He is completely unable to enforce discipline, and his calls for order are completely ignored by Zhaoyu, who takes over with a loud shout.
"I'm asking all of you! Who the fuck has a stapler? Can't anyone hear me?"
In the silent room, a soft female voice came from the south, saying, "I...I do."
After targeting a person, You Zhaoyu dragged his legs that were hesitant to exert too much effort to fetch the bookbinding tool. Without saying a word of thanks, he snatched it away without hesitation. Instead of returning to his seat, he walked over to the lectern and swiftly opened the math textbook.
The bookbinding tool effortlessly danced in his hands as he swiftly turned the pages with a crisp sound. Though everyone present was surprised, no one spoke up. In this class, no one dared to provoke the troublemaker. It was better to mind their own business and pretend they hadn't seen anything.
After Zhao Yu sat back in his seat for more than ten seconds, the front door was pushed open. Two people entered, one after the other. One of them walked back to their seat, while the other walked up to the podium.
Zou Jing addressed the entire class, saying, "Take out your books. We will be learning new content in this class."
Afterwards, he flipped through the textbooks on the lectern, but as soon as he opened the cover, he saw countless nails hammered into the inner pages of the book. Despite the momentary surprise, he still reached into the chalk box and casually wrote the title "Logarithmic Functions" on the blackboard.
He had already gone through this entire book countless times. This little prank was something he could handle with ease. As he began teaching, he glanced over at a certain corner of the classroom.
Yu Zhao Yu, who was waiting to watch the joke unfold, saw this effect and angrily threw the book binder onto the desk. He wasn't afraid to be enemies with this teacher. Besides, he didn't study in school anyway. It would be better to find some fun. If he didn't succeed today, he didn't believe that Zou Jing's calm face, no matter when, wouldn't be affected by him causing trouble.
Lin Jinglei was scolded by Joe Crazy for getting into fights again. After several rounds of scolding, he realized that this female teacher was actually not very capable of controlling him, or perhaps he could even say that she couldn't control him at all. She would often threaten him by mentioning his uncle, but this excessive display of hidden mercy and kindness didn't carry much persuasiveness in the end.
Yesterday, there was a small disagreement between him and his uncle. He didn't come home for lunch after school but instead dragged Tang Shan to the cafeteria to eat.
In addition to all the third-year students who live on campus, there were also many first and second-year students who live far from school and come to the cafeteria for lunch. The long queues at each window made Tang Shan hesitate about joining them.
"Leizi, don't stay crowded here, go eat some snacks outside of campus, and you can also surf the internet for a while."
Lin Jinglei continued to walk inside and said, "I'm not going, I don't have money."
"Crying poor like coming here for a free meal."
Lin Jinglei took out the meal card from his pocket and said, "Just swipe it."
Tang Shan stared wide-eyed, "So generous? Definitely not yours, whose is it?"
"Who cares? If you want to eat, go ahead. If you don't want to eat, then get lost."
"Eat, eat, eat."
Lin Jinglei's meal card is not someone else's, it's his own. The reason he adds money to it is because he plans to not go back to eat lunch from now on. But Tang Shan, this kid, even if he swipes his card to eat extravagantly, he still stubbornly refuses to believe that the meal card is Lin Jinglei's. He says that sticking a picture of a handsome guy on the card clearly makes it a girl's card.
Lin Jinglei couldn't be bothered to explain that the meal card sticker was something he had taken from his former classmate's desk. It was just a sudden whim to protect the brand-new meal card, and he didn't care much about the sticker's appearance.
He was almost hammered to death by the adhesive sticker that Fatty Niu Simei Qi had exchanged, and for several days in a row, he was despised by Tang Shan. In order to ensure a peaceful lunchtime without any interruptions, Lin Jinglei took advantage of an evening after school and went to the stationery store to buy a new one.
There is no shortage of stationery and gift shops around the school. These shops are lined up one after another, and the interior decorations are fresh and artistic, making them a popular place for many students to go shopping.
Lin Jinglei was not a leisurely person. He chose the one at the very edge, and as soon as the car stopped in front of the door which was unlocked, he intended to go in and settle things quickly.
The wind chime hanging on the door resonated with a crisp sound. Inside the cash register, the boss lady, who was watching a romance drama, glanced up at the person entering before continuing to immerse herself in the show. With a casual indifference of wanting to buy but not buying, Lin Jinglei did not ask where to put the meal card. He appeared to be familiar with the route as he walked inside.
Among the neatly arranged high shelves, students slowly shuttle back and forth, selecting items. Judging by their school uniforms, it is evident that apart from their own school, they also belong to the nearby Fourth Middle School.
A wide variety of goods filled the shelves, from stationery to gifts. Lin Jinglei was momentarily dazzled by the assortment. He had good luck and quickly spotted the meal card sticker. Squatting down, he rummaged through several large boxes, hoping to find one that could shut Tang Shan's mouth.
I squatted until my legs went numb before finally making my selection. As I was heading to the cashier, I passed by a display of gifts and casually swept my eyes over it. Suddenly, my gaze came to a halt as I noticed an exquisitely crafted doll figurine that resembled the person on my food card.
The outstretched hand coincidentally met another hand in mid-air. He turned his head and saw a girl standing on tiptoes and looking up. After the girl saw him, she also stopped moving and softly said she would yield the way to him.
This face was not unfamiliar to Lin Jinglei. He had seen this girl twice entering and leaving the campus with Yan Zizheng, and they were very sweet, chatting and laughing. Thinking about this, a certain twisted curiosity ignited in Lin Jinglei's heart. Were they a couple? Or was it unrequited love? This girl had an average appearance, and as his gaze moved downward, her chest was also average. Lin Jinglei secretly mocked Yan Zizheng's taste. However, it could be considered unique to like a soccer star. He smiled and said, "No, I'll give her to you."
Marina Li blushed even more when Lin Jinglei smiled at her and said, "No... no, it's nothing."
Lin Jinglei raised his hand effortlessly, took the doll down, and placed it into the hands of Ma Li. Then, with a smile on his lips, he brushed past.
Ma Liangli was dumbfounded as she watched the boy with a slung backpack walking funny, his sunny disposition radiating as he went to pay and leave. Her heart continued to race anxiously for a long while.
Once she realized what had happened, she immediately held onto the doll and went to the cashier to pay. After completing the transaction, she dashed out of the door, hoping to say thank you. However, all she saw was the figure of a young man riding away on a bicycle.
Zou Jing woke up late and pulled open the curtains to look downstairs. The snack street was already bustling with activity, with many students from Yizhong passing by, some walking, some stopping.
After tidying up, he quickly went downstairs and headed towards the school. He had originally planned to go to the school cafeteria for breakfast, but changed his mind and went back to the classroom first.
The twenty minutes before class officially starts in the morning is dedicated to morning reading. The entire teaching building is filled with the sound of books. Even before getting close, one can already hear their class reciting ancient poems in unison, while the adjacent class, Class 18, is reading English vocabulary words out loud, each group of students trying to outdo the other in terms of volume.
Zou Jing stood at the front gate, waiting to catch those who were late for morning self-study. He didn't usually do this, so today's surprise inspection was clearly going to leave quite a few empty seats in its wake.
To Zou Jing's surprise, the last single table in the row towards the north was unexpectedly occupied. It was rare to see Zhao Yu attending the morning study session, as he usually only showed up after the class bell rang.
A few boys came up the side staircase and noticed that the class director was walking towards the classroom in an orderly manner at the door. When everyone had gathered around, Zou Jing frowned and said, "Didn't I say that being late for morning reading is not allowed?"
No one dared to speak up; they lowered their heads and waited for their assignments to be handed out.
"Old rules, push-ups, twenty of them, once done, go inside, no next time."
As soon as Zou Jing finished speaking, the group of young and old fellows immediately dropped to the ground and started counting while doing exercises. The corridor was filled with youthful bodies lying horizontally.
The students who arrived late were subsequently punished. The female students squatted down, while the male students did push-ups. After finishing, they gradually entered the room one by one, and the empty seats were gradually filled.
Yan Zizheng was the last to arrive. His seat was near the front door, and he slipped in and sat down, thinking he could blend in and pass unnoticed. However, he was still called out by Zou Jing, who was already standing on the podium.
After a simple, well-known gesture that everyone in the class understood, Yan Zizheng stood up and pulled at his pants legs. He then bent down and started doing push-ups in the aisle. The classmates sitting below quietly helped him count the repetitions.
Although Yan Zizheng appears to be a difficult person to approach in the class, everyone is willing to get close to him. With just a smile, he can easily gain popularity. This is something that Zhao Yu has to admire.
As Zhaoyu watched Yan Zizheng with a mischievous delight, he shouted provocatively, "Do it again!"
There was instant uproarious laughter. Yan Zizheng turned around silently and mouthed to You Zhaoyu: Get lost.
Zou Jing loudly banged on the lectern to restore discipline that was disrupted by Yu Zhaoyu: "Alright! Quiet down! Let's get ready for class. What is the subject of the first lesson?"
The entire class responded enthusiastically, saying, "Chemistry."
Yu Zhaoyu patiently waited for five or six minutes. He took the opportunity when the chemistry teacher turned around to write formulas on the blackboard and quickly slipped out through the back door. The weather was so nice and sunny, perfect for playing basketball. He originally planned to run out first and then call Yan Zizheng to join him, but as soon as he stepped out, he bumped into someone standing at the entrance.
Zou Jing stood with his arms crossed against the wall, as if he was specifically waiting for someone. He looked over and asked, "Where are you going?"
Zhaoyu was somewhat startled by Yuanyuan's words, and he straightened himself up with a smile that seemed like not really a smile, saying, "Bathroom."
Zou Jing looked at the young man who was half a head taller than himself and said seriously, "Why didn't you resolve it before class?"
Zhaoyu was most annoyed by the serious attitude of the man in front of him. He shrugged his shoulders, somewhat self-righteously declaring, "Can't I have frequent urination and urgent urine?"
Zou Jing knew that this kid was just talking nonsense, but he still stepped aside to make way, saying, "Hurry back, I'll be waiting here for you."
Yu Zhaoyu was speechless. Was this teacher crazy? What was he waiting for? He leisurely walked towards the restroom and carefully timed his return. Seeing the figure still in the same spot, he felt helpless for a moment. He couldn't escape from this class temporarily. But it was only temporary. He didn't believe that Zou Jing could keep blocking him at the back door forever.
Zou Jing pushed open the back door and turned back, saying, "You may leave. I will inform your father, and he will bring you back."
Yi Zhaoyu's enthusiasm was completely gone after being choked. After Zou Jing shook his head and gestured for him to enter the room, he slammed the door shut. He muttered a curse under his breath, watching Zou Jing's back through the window, and then sat back in his seat.
