"WeChat...yes." Another arrow pierced Su Yuan's heart. He took back his phone and fumbled through the software list before finally opening the app that was almost covered in dust. He placed it directly on Liu Haoyan's desk and said, "You figure it out yourself, I don't really understand." His gaze glanced at Liu Haoyan's hand, which seemed as if he wanted to peel off his own face. Unable to resist, Su Yuan added, "Don't rub your face like that, it's easy to cause wrinkles."
"Mm." Liu Hao responded lightly, not stopping his actions.
Taking a deep breath, Su Yuan turned his head. The conversation with him was a bit awkward. Perhaps it was due to the generation gap, he always felt a bit powerless chatting with this kid. Even during a simple self-introduction, Su Yuan felt a sense of exhaustion.
"Don't you...aren't you surprised that I'm a boy?"
Suddenly, a dragging and lingering voice of doubt rang in Su Yuan's ear. Su Yuan blinked and began to survey the entire room, starting from the corner of the wall. "Not surprised, what haven't I seen in this line of work?"
"How long have you been working as a makeup artist?"
"Seven years."
"Amazing!"
Finally, I heard a somewhat decent remark. Su Yuan smirked, tapping on the small pouch tied to his pants. "Hmm, being a makeup artist has practically become my life."
"Do you do your own makeup? I can't tell at all that you're 30."
30... It's this lingering number again.
If it weren't for Su Yuan's inherent character, he would have probably picked up a stool and thrown it at the child a long time ago.
"I'm 29..." reiterated Su Yuan once again. Turning his head, he crouched down next to Liu Yaoyan and asked, "Do you think I look like I've put on makeup?"
His round eyes turned towards his own direction, getting closer and closer, until eventually Su Yuan could clearly see the dirty residue of eye shadow on his eye sockets.
"Really? You look like you're wearing foundation," Liu Haoyuan leaned closer to Su Yuan's face, his gaze sweeping over every corner of his visage, "Your skin is so good at the age of 30, did you get any cosmetic treatments? Introduce me to them as well."
All the words I wanted to say were choked up, Su Yuan rolled her eyes imperceptibly and shook her head gently as she stood up, supporting her knees. "I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I have a natural face without makeup. Thank you for complimenting my good skin. And I'm 29 years old, please don't say I'm 30 anymore."
Liuhao followed his figure innocently and raised his eyes, saying, "Why are you in such a hurry?"
"No." It's all because you keep saying "30" every time you open your mouth!
"If you haven't tried it before, then you haven't tried it. Let's just have a chat. You're quite handsome."
The originally cheerful sentence now sounds like a strange complaint in the current situation. Su Yuan pondered for a moment with his eyes lowered, and ultimately nodded with pursed lips. "Thank you. Do you need any help from me? If not, I will go back first. Contact me when you need me."
"No need, I can do it myself." Liu Haoyan picked up the phone on the table and skillfully entered his own account into the "add friend" box. Then he threw it back into Su Yuan's arms and said, "Let's do it the day after tomorrow. I have an interview then."
"Mm." Su Yuan almost dropped his phone from his embrace, managing to catch it with some difficulty. He furrowed his brows for a moment and chose to remain silent, slipping the phone into his pocket before taking a step towards the door.
Before leaving, Su Yuan turned around and took a final glance at the boy still sitting in front of the mirror.
He seemed both familiar and unfamiliar with the process of removing makeup, using the correct tools but in the incorrect way. Just a moment ago, he had faced the world fearlessly, but as he wiped his face with a tissue, a crumpled piece of paper disappeared. What replaced it was a face clearly marked with irritation and anxiety.
Originally, he had made my heart restless with his antics, but gradually, it grew calm. With a delicate motion, Su Yuan pushed open the door and hurriedly left as if he had never been to this place before.
Two days later, Su Yuan arrived at the Fifth Makeup Artist Studio with her small suitcase as agreed, at 5 a.m. in the morning.
Pushing open the door, I saw the rather stout figure of the true "uncle" pacing back and forth in the already cramped room.
"Yang Yue." Su Yuan called out to him, reminding him of his own presence.
"Hey!" Yang Yue turned his head towards this direction, immediately showing a relieved expression on his face. "It's really you, Su Yuan! I thought they were just playing a joke on me when I first heard this news!"
Stepping forward in two strides, he approached Su Yuan and placed a hand on his back, guiding him towards the inner side. "You said you were doing well in the showbiz industry, so why become an exclusive makeup artist?"
"What do you mean, Yang Brother? Am I not doing well?"
In a small space at the very back of the room, separated by a curtain, a clear and bright male voice could be heard.
