When Gu Xiangnan received the news, no one knew what emotions he was feeling, including Chao Ning. All Chao Ning knew was that Gu Xiangnan had already completed what he needed to do and it would be best for him to leave first. Gu Xiangnan packed his bag, intending to retreat to Xing University for a while. However, before he even walked out the front gate, he was intercepted by a butler who appeared from somewhere unknown.

Zhao Ning: "Are you trying to confine me?"

The butler said, "Young Master Zhao is overthinking. It's almost noon, he should have lunch before going out again. The young master is also preparing to come back."

"Gu Xiangnan is coming back?" Chao Ning paused for a moment, completely caught off guard by how quickly Gu Xiangnan was taking action.

The butler glanced at the clock and said, "Young master is almost here."

It seems like there's no escaping it now. Chao Ning let out a sigh and said, "Alright, I'll go out after I have lunch."

He did not say anything definitively, but he also did not put his backpack back in his room. Instead, he casually placed it in the corner of the sofa and followed suit by snuggling in. By his actions, he was indicating that he must go out today. He believed that the housekeeper would understand. With an Omega currently in the house experiencing a feverish period, and considering he was a sensitive outsider Alpha, it was not ideal for him to stay in the house.

After a short while, Gu Xiangnan entered the door and asked, "Where is Shen Xi?"

As the morning light streamed in, Chao Ning lazily raised her eyelids and murmured, "Upstairs room."

Gu Xiangnan hurriedly rushed up the stairs in three steps, bypassing the need to knock on the door, and barged in directly. When Chen Ning turned to look, she even craned her neck, seemingly quite interested in the situation inside.

The housekeeper reappeared and said, "Don't worry, Young Master, since you are going to marry her, you will not do anything that would betray her."

In response to Chao Ning's words, he nonchalantly waved his hand and said, "It's alright, I don't mind. After all, there is always a first come, first served basis."

The butler glanced at Chao Ning for a moment, seemingly lost in thought. Without a word, he turned around and went back to his work.

Chao Ning listened carefully to the movement upstairs, but he couldn't hear anything. He wondered if the soundproofing was too good. Just when he was starting to lose interest, there was a sudden "thud" from upstairs, as if someone had smashed something. This was followed by a soft and angry voice saying, "Don't touch me."

"Wow, he's still so fierce." Chao Ning shook his head and looked around. His gaze happened to meet the stewards. "Aren't you going up to take a look? Who knows, maybe your young master's head has already been cracked open."

The butler's face changed, but he still said, "Young Master is an S-class Alpha. He won't be..."

"Dalain le." Towardsning saw Gu Xiangnan coming out, with a bump on his left forehead, though it wasn't bleeding, it still looked quite scary. He had no awareness of being someone's fiancé, and just curiously asked, "How did he get beaten up? Didn't he receive your pheromones to appease him?"

Gu Xiangnan's face looked extremely unpleasant. "It has nothing to do with you. How could he suddenly enter the fever period? Today is not the scheduled time."

Zhao Ning said, "Well, I'm not sure about that. After all, Omegas are fragile and sensitive. The hormones in their bodies are easily influenced by external factors, causing sudden and intense changes, which can lead to an early onset of the heat cycle for numerous reasons."

Gu Xiangnan stared at him intently, clearly showing some disbelief.

Chao Ning raised her hand to block him. "Don't look at me like that. I can't make him enter the fever period. I don't have that capability."

Gu Xiang looked perplexed.

Zhao Ning casually explained, "I am an inferior Alpha with a low concentration of pheromones. That's why Alphas show hostility towards me because of pheromones, and Omegas won't enter their heat periods."

He paused for a moment, then self-deprecatingly added, "Not only that, but some people even say I might be able to have children like an Omega. What do you think?"

"Impossible," Gu Xiangnan said coldly.

The three words he said contained multiple meanings, and clever Chao Ning understood them right away. He didn't mind anyway because he no longer had any hope for these two families. He didn't want to be bothered too much, just give him some food to eat. He sat up and turned to the butler, asking, "Mr Butler, when can we have our meal? I'm hungry, and I need to go back to school later."

"Do you want to return to school?" Gu Xiangnan asked.

Zhao Ning replied with a question, "What's the problem?"

Gu Xiangnan frowned and said, "Xiaoxi is still in a feverish state and needs someone to take care of her."

Chao Ning looked puzzled and asked, "Aren't the butlers and maids human? Are they all Betas or Omegas? It's more convenient for them than someone like me, an Alpha."

Gu Xiangnan said, "Didn't you say that you couldn't make the Omega enter the heat period?"

Chao Ning laughed mockingly, "So, according to you, a disabled Alpha is no longer an Alpha? Although my pheromone concentration may be low, I am still capable of subduing an Omega. Besides, how can you be certain that his pheromones won't affect me? What if I become filled with desire? How many times will you be cuckolded?"

If it were any other time, Chaoning would never have clashed with someone over such a trivial matter. But today, he didn't know what had gotten into him - his temper flared up a bit. He even disregarded where he was and what situation he was in.

"He could lose his temper with the housekeeper and servants, but had no right to shout at Gu Xiangnan."

The steward reminded with displeasure, "Sir, please be mindful of your demeanour."

Chao Ning didn't say anything, but he merely shrugged and seemed a bit timid.

This was the first time Gu Xiangnan had been so openly challenged, but surprisingly, he didn't feel annoyed. Instead, he found the bold yet timid Alpha in front of him somewhat intriguing. He couldn't quite pinpoint where this newfound sentiment came from, but at least for now, he no longer held the resistance and aversion he felt during their first encounter yesterday.

"Then let's go back to school after finishing the meal," Gu Xiangnan walked towards the cafeteria. "I can guarantee that the Gu family members won't interfere with your studies, I will make sure of that. But you'll have to come back this weekend for a bridal rehearsal, to get acquainted with the venue in advance."

Chao Ning was taken aback by Gu Xiangnan's attitude and nodded in a daze, "Thank you. But... don't you need to go upstairs and take a look again?

"We've already administered the suppressant," Gu Xiangnan replied.

Once at the dining table, Chaoning only realized that this family seemed uninterested in eating together. Only two or three dishes were placed on the table, and the portions were not large, just enough to finish. Chaoning and Gu Xiangnan sat on opposite sides of the table, eating quietly without saying a word.

Chao Ning actually wanted to ask why the others didn't come to have lunch together, but she felt that it would be too nosy of her, and she might accidentally lose the little bit of goodwill she had managed to build up with Gu Xiangnan. After finishing her meal, she waited for Gu Xiangnan to finish eating before mentioning that she needed to go back to school.

"I'll give it to you," Gu Xiangnan said.

Chao Ning's face was clearly expressing refusal, but Gu Xiangnan seemed to be completely oblivious. There was no other choice, so Chao Ning could only get on Gu Xiangnan's private shuttle.

After seeing the grand gate of Xingda from a distance, Chao Ning asked Gu Xiangnan to park the car. He didn't want others to know that he had come by shuttle. Because of his special identity, he always kept a low profile at school. He never stayed in the dormitory if he could help it, preferring to spend his time in the library or the laboratory. He even moved out of the school dormitory and rented a house together with friends from the laboratory, living a discreet and peaceful life.

Gu Xiangnan didn't say anything either and set him down where Zhao Ning had mentioned, "Weekend."

"Remember, remember." With those words, Chao Ning quickly returned to school, saying "Thank you" before jogging away.

Gu Xiangnan watched as Chao Ning's figure disappeared into the crowd before turning and heading back to the company. On the way back, he set the shuttle to automatic mode and closed his eyes, recalling the events of noon today.

Shen Xi, who has always been gentle and close to him, seems to have started to dislike him. She never used to dislike his touch, let alone his pheromones. Shen Xi is probably still mad, angry that he cannot refuse the arrangements made by his family.

Gu Xiangnan, with a calm expression on his face, reached into the nearby storage box and pulled out a specially made milk-flavour cigarette, skillfully lighting it up.
