"I suspect that the two of you are here to waste medical resources."
Sheng Ximing leaned back in his office chair and picked up the inspection report. All the indicators on it were normal, and even the pheromone threshold was almost saturated. What does it mean for pheromones to reach saturation? It means that after the combination of the pheromones of an Alpha and Omega, they will blend with each other in the bloodstream, causing the Omega's pheromone levels to reach a very high level. The more compatible the pheromones are, the deeper the bond, and the higher the concentration.
"Even if there were any physical issues, please wait at least one week before coming, okay? All of his current indicators are influenced by your pheromones. This medical report can only speculate how passionate your union is but reveals nothing else."
Sheng Ximing paused, stroking his chin and said, "So, Ye Jindu, you came to my hospital in the middle of the night just to show off your love for me?"
Shi Zheng's face was embarrassingly flushed, but fortunately, the mask concealed it. Ye Jindu's expression remained calm, but there was a hint of unusual seriousness. He snatched the report form and quickly skimmed through the various test results from top to bottom. It was indeed confirmed that there were no problems.
Ye Dashao placed the report on the desk and sat opposite Cheng Ximing, asking, "Under what circumstances would a temporary mark result in the failure to suppress mating urges?"
"Information Essence Disorder could be caused by both congenital and acquired factors. So how can we..."
Sheng Ximing stared at Ye Jindu with an inquisitive look, as well as the mysterious Omega whose face could not be clearly seen, sporting a somewhat solemn expression.
Ye Jindu turned to Shi Zheng, who had been sitting silently by the door, and said, "I'm not sure about your current physical condition, so it's better for you to speak for yourself."
Shi Zheng quietly clenched his hand underneath his wide sleeves. His gaze slid from Ye Jindu's face to Sheng Ximing's white uniform, which displayed the other person's position and name on the chest.
Sheng Ximing had a slight idea of the concerns in the other person's heart. Regardless of the reason, dressing up like this to come to the hospital meant not wanting to be recognized by others. It was unclear whether they were a prominent figure in the industry or a public figure.
"Don't worry, doctors have professional ethics, protecting patient privacy is the most basic principle. Moreover, the newly enacted national healthcare law specifically emphasizes this point. Leaking patient privacy can lead to serious consequences, starting with a minimum sentence of three years in prison. I currently have no intention of expanding my business in jail."
Sheng Ximing calmly explained on the surface, but in his mind, he was racking his brains to figure out the other person's identity. Most importantly, he wanted to see what kind of person could make Ye Jindu care so much.
Despite being total strangers, one simply being a bed partner a few times, the other appearing to be an unprofessional doctor, any combination of them seemed like a farcical comedy.
"I always thought that I was a Beta."
Shizheng spoke slowly.
"Beta? Are you kidding me?"
Sheng Ximing couldn't help but inwardly criticize.
"But suddenly went into heat, and moreover, the temporary marking effect is very weak."
"Is this your first time going into heat?"
Sheng Ximing merely furrowed his brow ever so slightly.
"En."
"Why aren't you using an inhibitor?"
"Don't you have the common sense to know about using inhibitors before resorting to actual combat?"
"I've fought, but it was useless."
Seeing Shen Ximing's expression, Ye Jindu could guess what he was thinking.
Sheng Ximing glanced at his friend who butted in, wanting to say, "Ye Jindu, please tell me you're not actually deceiving a little boy. This person wearing a hat and mask, I'm afraid it's not the first time they've caused trouble. If they can harm minors, then Ye Jindu, you're truly inhuman." In just a moment, he changed his tone and kindly asked the Omega, "Does it have no effect at all, or is the effect just weak?"
Shi Zhen carefully reflected on her feelings at that moment and hesitantly said, "It was useless, and it felt even more uncomfortable."
"The symptoms are very similar to an allergy to inhibitors."
Ye Jindu interjected again.
Sheng Ximing glanced between the two of them, cleared his throat, and said, "I suggest you undergo a more detailed physical examination. At this point, I can't come to a definite conclusion, but it's possible that you have a disorder called pheromone imbalance. However, congenital pheromone imbalance typically manifests in underdeveloped physique and low intelligence and most individuals afflicted with it do not survive to adulthood. So, a crucial question right now is, how old are you?"
"Twenty-eight."
Ye Jindu replied concisely and to the point.
Sheng Ximing rolled his eyes behind his glasses and said, "I'm asking the patient, not you!"
Ye Dashao shrugged his shoulders with a "as long as you're happy" expression. He conveniently took out a cigarette box from his pocket, but then he remembered that this was a darn hospital and smoking was prohibited. Oh well, forget it.
Miffed, he reluctantly put it back.
Sheng Ximing noticed his slight movement and reminded him, saying, "Take a left at the door and walk until you reach a lounge."
Ye Jindu clicked his tongue and said to Shizheng, "I'll go smoke a cigarette. You can chat with this mediocre doctor slowly."
"Go to hell, get lost."
Sheng Ximing wore a professional smile as he calmly and methodically scolded.
"Thank you for thinking of my uncle every year."
Ye Jindu walked slowly towards the door with his hands in his pockets. The office was small, with Zhengshi sitting on a chair next to the door. She heard Ye Jindu's footsteps getting heavier and paused for a moment. She opened the door, closed it again, and the sound faded away like concentric ripples.
