Chapter Twenty-One
At midnight, the high-end villa area was very quiet. It was impossible for a car to make a loud noise by running over a broken manhole cover. Nor would there be drunken men and women making a racket and flirting downstairs. However, Song Bai could not fall asleep. He was already exhausted, and his concept of time was no longer clear. The soft and steady breathing of Ji Suiyun came from behind him. At that moment, a bloody thought crazily sprouted in Song Bai's mind.
You can't do this. Song Bai tried hard to regulate his breathing and moderate his rapid heartbeat. He couldn't act impulsively, he couldn't take risks. Two months would pass quickly, so he couldn't let one scoundrel ruin his future life.
Song Bai sat up gently and fumbled around in the dark for a while until he found his dropped cellphone at the door. He picked it up and walked into the bathroom, locking the door behind him. As he unlocked the screen, he saw an overwhelming amount of missed calls, texts, and WeChat messages.
Most of them are from Lu Facheng, and a few are from Li Yang and his mediocre friends. It's likely that Lu Facheng had no other choice but to approach them.
I'm sorry Chengcheng, I had a fever last night and went to the hospital by myself to get an IV drip. I left my phone at home. Don't worry, I'm fine. I'm going to sleep now. Song Bai couldn't edit this text message any better, as it was full of loopholes. He had never lied to Lu Fucheng about the essential issue, let alone a lie that could almost destroy the two of them.
Lufucheng originally intended to make a phone call, but gave up upon seeing the message from Song Bai saying he had gone to sleep. He spent some time sanding and polishing the small wooden boat he had carved and which was about the size of his palm, looking forward to bringing it home to Bai when he returned.
Song Bai sleeps in late, while Ji Suiyun has the habit of getting up at 7 am. He didn't intentionally speak softly, but Song Bai remained asleep.
Everyone in the family followed Jisuiyun's habits and daily routine as a standard. It wasn't until around 7:10 am that there was any movement outside of the bedroom. The rotating housekeeper began to clean up the house, while Ji Sui'an let Lai Fu out of the wooden cottage in the garden.
Lai Fu lay outside the door for a while, scratching at the bedroom door with his thick paws. While wiping his hair, Ji Suiyun quickly sat on the short sofa next to the bed and reviewed today's itinerary, making simple estimates and arrangements for any potential emergencies. He was annoyed by the rustling sound near the door, so he walked over and opened it slightly. Lai Fu squeezed through the gap and ran inside with small steps, without any trouble jumping onto the bed despite its height.
Ji Suiyun's bed is off limits to animals, but Lai Fu is an exception. He rescued the tiger from a smuggler's suitcase, cradling him in his palm and feeding him gradually with a bottle. When Lai Fu first arrived, he was not much braver than a cat and would always pretend to sleep obediently under the bed. But at night, he would sneak up and nestle in a small bundle at the edge of the bed, snuggled under the blanket.
Ji Suiyun's bed never accommodated overnight visitors, except for Song Bai. Perhaps it was because an obsession was planted from the first moment they met. Song Bai was always unwilling to give in, not even a smile, but Ji Suiyun knew how beautiful his smile was when he willingly gave it. The contrast was too significant, and gradually Ji Suiyun became unwilling to let it go. He wanted to hold Song Bai's hand and make him submit. The more Song Bai resisted, the more Ji Suiyun wanted to make him surrender.
The rough tongue of the tiger licked on Song Bai's face, causing a slight itchy pain. Song Bai frowned in his sleep as if something unexpected had happened. He suddenly opened his eyes to see a large tiger head in front of him.
Song Bai took a deep breath and impatiently pushed Lai Fu away. Ji Suiyun set aside the notebook made of cowhide and laughed, saying, If you bully it again, I will feed you to a tiger. There was no hint of joking in her words.
Don't even talk about a tiger raised by Ji Suiyun himself, even a dog from the Ji family might have a higher status than Song Bai.
Song Bai didn't say anything and quickly stood up to look for his phone. He had forgotten to turn off the silent mode from last night, so he was worried that his alarm wouldn't ring and he would be late. Li Yang had already admonished him several times, and if this continued, even the best of relationships would probably become strained.
Fortunately, it's only 7:30, so there's still time to hurry.
Song Bai suppressed the negative emotions in his heart and bent down to pick up his clothes from the ground one by one. The last item was his shirt, lying under Ji Suiyun's feet. Song Bai lowered his head and, without much thought, extended his arm to retrieve it.
Season Su Yun acted as if she hadn't seen it, slowly stepping onto it. Song Bai stared at the sole of Season Su Yun's foot, and his eyes turned red with tears barely held back.
Mr. Ji, I'm going to be late.
Ji Suiyun suddenly realized and said, Sorry. However, his feet did not move an inch.
Mr. Ji, I'm really in a hurry, Song Bai didn't understand how he managed to anger him since he woke up this morning. He was confused, but had no choice but to compromise: Whatever you want to do, we can talk about it after I finish work. Song Bai thought that he had reached his limit after last night's incident, but apparently, he would pay the price for his lack of imagination.
After pondering for a while with his head tilted, Ji Suiyun nodded and left.
Song Bai trembled as she picked up the clothes from the ground, holding them tightly in her arms and giving them a firm embrace.
Song Bai quickly tidied up, and Ji Suiyun was already dressed neatly. Ji Suiyun was used to having breakfast at the company, while Ji Sui'an didn't eat until 8 o'clock, so breakfast was not yet ready.
Go eat something at the store yourself, said Ji Suiyun to Song Bai. I'll give you a ride on my way, he added.
The driver was already waiting. Song Bai was indeed pressed for time, and on top of that, Ji Suiyun had a control obsession bordering on lunacy. In order to avoid being lectured by Yan Zhou later that night, Song Bai obediently got into the car.
Ji Suiyun remained silent all the way and refrained from any intimate actions that Song Bai would have rejected. When the car was still half a block away from the West Point shop, Ji Suiyun asked the driver to stop.
I will come to pick you up tonight.
Song Baicai was about to open the car door when Ji Suiyun suddenly grabbed his wrist. She flirtatiously rubbed her fingers on the palm of his hand a few times before handing him a new bank card.
Go ahead.
Song Bai looked at him, feeling the unique concave-convex texture of the bank card number in his palm. Song Bai's lips trembled slightly, as he resisted the urge to use the card as a knife and stab it towards Ji Suiyun, smiling as if crying.
Thank you Mr. Ji.
