I'm more than just a picture
I'm a daughter and a sister
Sometimes it's hard for me to show
That I'm more than just a rumor
Or a song on your computer
There's more to me than people know
After leaving the hospital, Tahera found her way to a nearby internet café. She used the rest of her money to book as many hours as she could for one of the available rooms.
Other than reading, Tahera spent the rest of the time she was in the hospital researching for ways to earn money. In our online era, even money-earning methods had gotten far more varied in nature.
For example, many online companies offered monetary rewards for hackers that could figure out the weaknesses in their security programs. The hackers were paid according to the size of the weakness found.
Not only that, some business organization would set up hacking competitions with monetary prizes on special occasions...
In any case, Tahera found out ways she could utilize this to convert her talent into cash. Her original plan was to go about it one by one but the urgency of the situation had forced her hand!
It might cause quite a stir but she didn't have time to worry about that anymore. She needed to earn more than 300000 in a single night.
She truly believed that she could accomplish the task but it would put a great strain on her mental health. She didn't want to commit to it fully on account of her recently recovered body and memory but she was stripped of the choice.
The internet café Tahera opted for was a bit expensive but the location had fleshed out amenities that she felt won't die out on her in the middle of the night.
Furthermore, it provided the service of isolated rooms which meant that she won't be rudely disturbed. As the computer screen came alive, Tahera took a gulp of her water and immersed herself into the IT world that she was once intimate with...
"Ding!" It was a message alert that told its user there was a new message in its inbox.
Aaban quickly opened his phone. The message was from his bank. There was an incoming transaction for 5000!
Tahera had left for less than 30 minutes and there was already an additional 5000 in his account.
Aaban found it difficult to contain his excitement and curiosity. What was his sister doing that money could come in so fast?
Aaban alternated between trepidation and elation. He spent the next few hours staring at his phone, afraid that he would miss any incoming messages.
In less than 30 minutes, another message came notifying him that another pile of money was coming into his account. After that, his account would receive new transactions every other 30 minutes or 1 hour. The amount varied between several thousands and several ten thousands. Aaban was a bundle of nerves.
The money in his account slowly increased... Until it reached the necessary threshold, he rushed to handle the operation fees. Tahera's mission for the night was off to a good start.
However, Aaban got increasingly worried about her since he still received no personal update from her. His worry was exacerbated by the fact that he had no idea where she was and what she was doing.
A part of him was also worried that she was involved in something illegal. All he had was her verbal promise that she wouldn't do anything stupid and rash so he hung onto it like it was a lifeline.
He prayed for her safety and waited patiently for her to return. That was all he could do and all that she had asked him to do.
While Tahera was out earning money, Aaban didn't rest. He was fighting the battle his own way, cheering for Tahera even though they were physically separated.
He gradually tuned out his phone's message alert because he believed fully that Tahera would accomplish what she set out to do. His initial agitation turned into serenity born out of faith...
Aaban had matured quite a lot in that one night. He became much more grounded and steadfast.
Tahera had made an immense impact on the reformation of his character, strengthening his constitution to help him brace the vicissitudes of life with unwavering resolve.
Many years later, when he was old and weary, that night would still be his most memorable.
His sister's fragile body when she left the hospital to perform the miracle that would singlehandedly change their lives forever was imprinted into his mind.
He had found a real-life hero: Tahera Tabassum!
The long night was finally over. Tahera had shred through an uncountable number of systems.
When she felt that she had done more than enough, she stopped her dexterous hands, rubbed her tired eyes and left the café in a daze.
Back at the hospital, before she could even reach her uncle's sickbay, she saw Aaban running towards her. He had been worried for her the entire night. He sighed in relief when he finally saw her approaching.
"Sis, are you alright? How are you feeling, where were you all last night?" Aaban bombarded her the moment they were close enough for conversation.
Tahera answered vaguely, "Spent the night at an internet café. Aaban, have we got enough money?"
"Yes!" Aaban nodded in a hurry, adding happily, "Sis, you're so incredible, we have a little over 400000!"
Tahera had surpassed the 300000 required for Rahim's operation. Aaban had never been happier in his life.
"Sis, you're my hero!" Aaban said as he stared at her with unbidden admiration in his eyes, "Sis, tell me please, how did you manage to earn so much in just one night!"
"Let me take a rest first," Tahera replied.
Only then Aaban noticed Tahera's pale face, bloodshot eyes and heavy dark circles under her eyes. The recent years hadn't been particularly kind to her and now she looked even worse.
Aaban said kindly, "Sis, then you should go rest by dad's side. I'll go buy your favorite soup and chicken drumsticks for your breakfast. Rest your body and I'll handle the rest."
"Okay," Tahera nodded and left for Rahim's sickbay. There was a small couch for the patient's family to rest in Rahim's room. Tahera curled herself on it, covered herself with a blanket and entered a restful sleep.
Tahera, in her tired state, was out like a light while Aaban was happily going through town buying her breakfast.
Neither of them knew what Tahera did the previous night had rocked Country's online world to its core. Over the span of one night, a hacker by the codename 001 had become a household name among the IT industry.
This 001 challenged the top 20 hackers in Dhaka over one night and he took them all down!
He even neutralized Rahman Empire's latest security system that was released earlier that year, and needless to say, systems released by lesser companies were taken down as well.
It is worth noting that these systems were developed by some of the best security teams in Dhaka! These systems had stopped some of the most influential hackers but 001 hacked through them in just one night!
Like a dark horse, 001 had burned his trails through the hacker's world but the trails led nowhere. 001 left no trace that would lead back to his real identity.
Last night, thanks to Tahera, Dhaka's online world was the busiest it had been in recent years.
Tahera had announced herself with such a bang and so out of the blue that she had attracted the attention of a few malicious hackers! However, after a whole night of online tussles, no one got any closer to her identity. She had completely bested them...
The bunch of hackers had a feeling that the online world was going to be turned upside down soon.
