“It is not necessary. We can go home by ourselves.” Icy carried David and then started walking away, ignoring even Hosea Lindley. Who are these people? Why did they come into her life, giving her so many problems. Did they think it was fun? Today she was late to pick up her boy, who was unluckily unharmed. Who could guarantee that no one touched her boy in the future?

Hosea tried to follow and yell at Icy from behind, but she wasn’t responding to him. She just walked quickly, with her boy in arms. Hosea gave Hoffman a glance, wondering what the heck he was doing here. Hoffman shrugged; in fact he didn’t do anything, he just passed by to say hello.

“So where are you going now?” Hosea asked Hoffman, hoping that he would go away, so that he could catch up with Icy and David. To his surprise, Hoffman grabbed his arm and didn’t let him go. “What are you doing? Can’t you see she was ignoring you? Why are you still after her?” It was Hoffman’s mission to stop Hosea seeing Icy now; he must not give him any chance until this woman and her boy were both certified to have no relationship with Chevy.

“Are you nut? Let me go!” Hosea frowned. Two men tugging each other in the public was indeed very embarrassing. “Relax, pal, don’t worry, I didn’t do anything to you.” Hoffman looked innocent and released Hosea whose suit had been tugged and pulled. His silk suit was expensive and he might ask Hoffman to compensate for any damages.

“Why are you doing this? What do you really want?” Hosea straightened his suit and turned to look at Icy’s shrinking silhouette. “I think you should give up. Didn’t you hear that she needed no ride home from you? Why are you still following her? Hoffman muttered. That wasn’t his son and he had no right nor responsibility toward them.

“She told me not to drive her, but how can I leave her alone like this? She and David are taking subway home?” Hosea mumbled to himself. She was petite, carrying a boy, and subway during peak hour was too crowd.

“Do you want me to help you drive her home?” Hoffman raised his eyebrows, eyeballing at Hosea and hoping that he would agree. His mission was to stop them hanging out too often until everything was clear.

“No need, I will do it myself.” Hosea replied coldly. “Oh! Wait! Please listen to me first, I am trying to help you,” Hoffman grasped Hosea’s wrist, “I heard that you were making a confession to that lady, right? And now she ran away. Maybe you should leave her alone now and let her think. Chasing girl requires patience and you should never push.” Hoffman couldn’t believe that he had delivered such a good speech; he tapped Hosea’s shoulder, hoping that he would be convinced.

“Hmmm… you seem like you know what you are saying.” Hosea answered slowly. Icy already heard his confession, but her reaction was strange. Maybe she needed more time to think about it. If I go find her now, she might feel annoyed and irritated.

“Don’t worry, I am giving you my word to deliver her home safely. Don’t forget , we know each other since we were young. If anything goes wrong, you can come knock on my door.” Hoffman beaten his own chest to give his friend’s confidence, and smiled, after so many years, Hosea Lindley could still be fooled by him easily.

“Then, thank you for your help and I really appreciate. Could you please give me a phone call after she gets home?” Hosea hesitated and exhaled. Everything was done. He glanced at Hoffman walking to his own car and looked at Icy and David’s fading Silhouette. He walked away disappointingly.

Hosea didn’t notice that Hoffman’s car turned away from Icy, made a few more turns and finally parked in front of a coffee shop few blocks away to pick up someone; and then they together tried to catch the mother and her boy again.

“Report!" Paxon Chevy was sitting in the back passenger seat, squinting his eyes, undoing his silk tie and threw it beside him. “Relax! I am a little bit delayed,” Hoffman furrowed his temple. Was Paxon angry? He wouldn’t be angry soon.

“Why took so long?” Pax had been waiting in that coffee shop for hours already. He was forced to wait because his best friend was trying to spy Icy and her boy starting from the boy’s kindergarten.

“Something happened. Now we shall go pick up someone.” Hoffman thought that it was time for Pax to meet Icy and David, if they were really whom he longed to see. This time Pax owed him a big favour.

“Hey! pretty Lady. Can I drive you home?” Icy was holding David’s little hand and walking toward the subway station. She felt so lucky that Hosea Lindley wasn’t following her. Now who was this guy? “Go away! Mr. Strange.” David immediately stood between Hoffman’s car and her mother; he heard that this man was trying to flirt with Icy.

“No need.” Icy pulled David back to her perimeter and refused firmly. “It was Hosea Lindley. He asked me to send you home. Please get in the car, or I will have to come up with some good explanations.” Hoffman wrinkled and signaled to Paxon who was hiding in the back seat that she wasn’t coming in. “No need, I can go home myself.” Icy didn’t change her mind and continued to walk to the subway station with her boy.

“If you don’t let me drive you, hope you won’t mind if I go take subway with you.” He turned his head to Pax who chose to keep silent behind the tin black window. “Are you using coercion?” Icy stood still and smirked. “Of course not, not coercion, definitely not. I was told to deliver you home. I meant no harm. Hey! little boy, do you want to come into my car?” Hoffman smiled reluctantly.

“I don’t want to. hoho…” David eyeballed and sneered at Hoffman disdainfully. No one wanted to get in Mr. Strange’s car. “I am not a bad guy, also your uncle Chevy is in my car too.” Hoffman found David extremely disrespectful and irritating. ”Uncle Chevy?” David turned his little head to see, to make sure he was referring to the same uncle Chevy. “Yeah! Pax! Why don’t you show yourself and say something, or this beautiful lady and the boy will think I am a kidnapper.” Hoffman had no choice, but to buzz the passenger tin black window to reveal Paxon Chevy who had always been sitting in the back.

“Mama?” David couldn’t make up his mind and looked at Icy for direction. The boy suspected that this uncle Chevy was his father, but his mother denied. So it’s now up to Icy to decide whether they should get in the car.

“It is not necessary. We can go home by ourselves.” Icy was stunned when she saw Paxon. Today, there was a prank to keep her work overtime. She originally thought it was Shirley, but now it was obviously that the order came directly from Paxon. Icy really dared not to get in Pax’s car again or to see him.

“Ms Walkerson. We are not bad people. It was Hosea Lindley who wanted me to send you home, to make sure you are okay. Didn’t he just confess to you?” Hoffman implored. Why Paxon Chevy remained silent? What was in his mind? Hosea Lindley had already confessed, and he still acted like a dude.

"What?” Pax’s face was stiffened and grew pale. Had Hosea Lindley already asked her to be his girlfriend or wife? “It seems Ms Wilkinson had lots of admirers! Hoffman. Let’s go.” Paxon looked angry and said few words to Hoffman. The car windows buzzed. “What? Go now? I gave you my words, but I also promised Hosea. We were not done yet! No!”
