“What the…?” Staring at Paxon and almost gushing from his mouth, Hoffman couldn’t believe what he had just heard. “Are you saying you always see her in your dreams? And you couldn’t see her face? Are you kidding me? Or is it some kind of spiritual possession? How come you never told me this before?” Hoffman was trying to make sense of what his friend had told him.

Paxon gazed coldly at Hoffman, who knew he should shut up before his friend lost his temper. When Hoffman pursed his lips, Paxon tried to continue his story again. “In dreams, I can’t see her face, but I can see and remember the birthmark on her chest.” If he could see her face, he wouldn’t be troubled anymore.

“Didn’t you already believe in Shirley who was that woman five years ago?” Hoffman questioned. Pax told him that SHirley had a butterfly birthmark on her chest. Maybe he should just follow his family’s wishes and marry her. Then life would be a lot easier.

“I…..do you believe in her?” Pax had been thinking about all the details that day in Icy’s house. It was too suspicious. Things were unbelievably strange and coincidental; it felt like it was a performance or an act, which was planned out by some people.

“I don’t believe Shirley Lindley,” Hoffman shook his head; This city wasn’t very big and SHirley was definitely one of the well-known celebrities, but he didn’t know her very well. “Why don’t you believe her?” Paxon was curious about Hoffman’s confident answer, because they never met face to face and he had been in a foreign country for many years.

“You are too clumsy,” Hoffman raised from an armchair and smirked, “What kind of person do you think Shirley Lindley is? Almost everyone knows she loves you and wants to marry you. If she was really the woman you slept with five years ago, she must have told you already, and then made you marry her. Why did she need to wait till now? Women are complicated beings; you cannot ignore them but you can never fully trust them. I guess you need to think clearly and might need to do some investigation. Somehow, I think that the woman you want is that Icie walkerson.”

The second generations from wealthy families must not be too naive; they must not be totally honest when giving opinions. Hoffman and Paxon were good friends but their family businesses were in fact competitors. “You are very right about this, I must have been blind. I will give you this mission to help me find out the truth.” Paxon heaved his eyebrows and felt satisfied. Finally someone came to him to offer good opinions and assistance.

“Gosh! What are you talking about? I have only come back from abroad five days ago and now you want me to handle your romantic mess? It is something that you must do it yourself”

Paxon Chevy’s grandfather was expecting Pax and Shirley getting married, but now he was trying to find his one night stand lover; the old man would either hammer his grandson or die from heart attack himself.

“Are you going or not?” Paxon stood up, clenched his fists and walked to Hoffman. “What do you want? You really want to exchange blows? Is that what you want? I know you are are a better combatant than I am, Okay you win!” Observing Paxon’s threatening gesture, Hoffman stepped back and surrendered.

“So, that means yes?” Pax was contented with this arrangement; Hoffman would do the job for him and Shirley and other people would not feel suspicious. “One more thing, Is that Icie Walkerson pretty? If she turned out to be not the one you want, can I have her?” Hoffman’s eyeballs looped and shimmered and he smiled amorously. He had only returned to his home city for five days but he had heard the name Icie thousand times already.

“Get out of here!” Pax grabbed a pen case from his desk and tossed it at his friend who was able to catched it spontaneously. “Wow, are you jealous? Don’t worry, we are buddies!” Hoffman replied humorously. “Get out or I will get security! Out!” Paxon barked at his friend. “Okay Okay whatever you say, I am leaving!” Hoffman didn’t want to provoke his friend and Pax was someone he couldn't afford to antagonize with.

Little David was standing at the front door of his kindergarten, looking around to spot her mother who promised to come pick him up today. “David, why don’t you wait inside? Maybe your mother is delayed by traffic.” His teacher came to make sure he was fine; everyone had gone except him; and he was obviously getting disquiet and anxious.

“No, I am waiting here. I know my mother is coming.” David knew his mother must be coming; there was no way she could forget about him. “But it is getting dark, why don’t you come in and give her a phone call.” The kindergarten couldn’t close unless all kids were picked up.

“Teacher, I am so sorry that I become your problem. I will phone my mother now, Can you let me use your phone.” David nodded obediently; he knew that his teachers were all busy, and because of him, the kindergarten must remain open. “No one answering?” Both the teacher and David grew more nervous and uneasy. Was it possible that something bad happening to the boy’s mother?

“Still no one answered the phone…maybe she had an accident…” David gnawed his lips and his tears almost shedded from his watery eyes. "Do you have someone else to call?” The teacher asked. Who else could David call? He frowned. He had no father. Yeah! He could call uncle lindley and uncle Chevy. The boy’s eyes blinked; then he dialed a number and someone picked up the phone.

“Yes? Who is speaking?” A gentle and magnetic voice echoed, the little boy felt relieved and smiled again. “Uncle Lindley, it’s me, David. I wonder if my mother is still working in her office. Did you see her?” She still hasn’t come pick me up at the kindergarten.”

“You mother hasn’t come get you? Okay, you stay where you are. I am coming right now. And then together, we will go find your mother.” Hosea replied warmly.

Hosea immediately laid down his chore. Icy left her office early; if she didn’t go to kindergarten, where could she go? David waited outside of the front door of his kindergarten and within twenty minutes, a car pulled over and parked in front of him.

“Uncle Lindley, where is my mother?” He thought his mother might be coming together with uncle Lindley. Now only Hosea showed up, where the heck had his mother gone?

“I couldn’t find her. Let’s phone her again.” Hosea grew anxious too because it was abnormal for Icy failing to pick up her boy after school. Hosea brought little David into his car; and suddenly Icy appeared within their eyesight; she was hours late. “Mama! Where have you been? Why didn’t you answer the phone call? You scare me.”
