Icy was very concentrated on her assignment and the cup on her desk had already been empty. Cheton approached her with a hot sandwich and a bottle of juice. "You must eat before working again." She was too immersed in her job that she almost didn’t notice him, Icy slowly raised her head and said. “Oh, thank you, Cheton. How much is that? I will pay you back. Or I can transfer money to you through wechat or paypal. By the way, you are not yet on my friend list. Can I add you in wechat or facebook?” Cheton adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, and smirked. "You can add me on your friend list. Money isn’t necessary because I took it free from the leftover at the cafeteria earlier. Then he took out his mobile phone. “Let me scan your phone and you will be on my friend list.” As soon as they finished their little conversation, Icy buried herself in her big project again. And she didn’t touched her sandwich. Few minutes later, Cheton saw it, he quietly unwrapped the sandwich and handed it to her. “Please eat something. Let me help you with your job.” Icy received the sandwich from him, but she said. “I will do it myself. Thanks anyway.” “Honestly, there is no way you can finish this assignment today. Now, I have already finished my job; I am free and I can help you to do part of the work.” Before Icy could reply, Cheton grabbed some documents from her desk and walked back to his desk. How could Icy further say no to his offer to help? “Thank you very much for your kind assistance. I owe you a coffee.” “Of course. Now please have your lunch.” Cheton replied politely. The rumor of Hosea and Icy had become a big discussion topic or a gossip within the company; and it seemed there was no sign to cease. Almost everyone believed in those stories and they were quite displeased and had some grudge against Icy now. It’s time for everyone to go home except her. Cheton had finished his part. He offered to help Icy more, but no matter how sincere he was, Icy would not let him help more.
It's getting dark and the moon tonight was exceptionally bright.
The moonlight touched Icy Wilkinson through her office picture window.
The woman appeared to be more beautiful and captivating, with the glimmering moon as a background. Beneath the same moonlight, there was a silhouette which belonged to a tall handsome man. Hosea Lindley, who had just returned from that urgent meeting, was watching her from a corner, as if he was scrutinizing a painting. He swore an oath to himself that he would become the moon to brighten her life from now on. Hosea walked to her desk and stood beside her, who was working so hard that she didn’t even notice. He could not keep himself from gently flipping her hair in front of her eyes and forehead to the back of her ear. Icy was surprised and stunned by his sudden motion. "Mr. Lindley. What are you doing here ? It is late.” He withdrew his hand. “I have just come back from a meeting. Why are you still here? How is David?” She has been working too hard and she had completely forgotten her little boy. Now Hosea reminded her and she looked at the time and ricocheted from her chair. David was home alone. The babysitter had probably gone by now. Icy immediately grabbed her handbag, purse and laptop and rushed home. When Lindley was standing beside Icy, he inadvertently saw her computer screen and what she was doing. Hosea followed Icy into the elevator and pressed the button for basement level two where he parked his car. “I will drive you home. It will be faster.” Icy looked at the time; she did not say no to him and just followed him closely. Inside the car, he suddenly turned and leaned toward her and she unconsciously fell backward. Pulling the seat belt from her side and helping her fasten it, he patted her head gently as she straightened her posture. “Little fool. Never forget your seatbelt. I will drive fast tonight.” Dwelling her mind in David who was now home alone, Icy’s brain was blank and she simply nodded without thinking. As soon as the car parked in front of the house, Icy rushed inside. “David David! Where are you?” She looked around anxiously.
David heard his mother calling his name and opened his bleary eyes reluctantly and replied loudly “Mom! I am sleeping in my room.” Following the voice of the little boy, Icy entered his room. “Oh. My sweetheart. Mommy is late because of work. It won’t happen again.” David raised his little chubby arm to touch her mother’s face. “It is okay. Mother. I am fine. Nothing to worry about.” Icy had always been working and taking care of her son by herself since he was born; maybe this was the reason of why David was more understanding and obedient than kids of his age. Leaning against the bedroom door and observing the loving mother and her devoted baby boy , Hosea Lindley found this panorama very touching. “Hey. Ice. I have ordered takeaway and it should be arriving anytime now. Why don’t we go downstairs and eat something.” Hosea finally interrupted the silence and what he had just said about food delivery was indeed refreshing and little David suddenly woke up. He run happily to Hosea and flung his arms around his leg. At that moment, Icy felt something wasn’t right, the rumors and gossips in the company. She muttered. “Mr Lindley. It is very late now. I don’t want people to misunderstand.” “Please don’t call me Mr, Lindley. Also there is no one here and there is nothing to misunderstand.” Hosea frowned. Her eyes wagged; she wasn’t sure if she should tell him what she had experienced this morning at work; and she definitely didn’t want to be his problem. “Nevermind. Let’s go down to eat.” Although she didn’t say more, he could almost feel something had gone wrong. After the food, Hosea phoned his personal assistant in his car to try find out what had happened in the office this morning. Of course, his assistant simply told him everything. After learning the truth, Hosea Lindley was as furious as a lion crouching before his prey.
How could Hosea allow someone, who he loved and cared, being bullied in his company? No one knew the truth that his younger sister, Shirley Lindley was behind all these mischiefs. And no one could possibly imagined that the photos had reached Paxon Chevy very soon. Everything seemed to be coincidental, and/but carefully planned out. Now Paxon Chevy strongly believed that Icy was a liar; somehow, after scrutinizing all the facts and his personal feelings, he wished she could continue to act and to lie to him. But how could he allow someone to cheat him like this? Totally unacceptable! There was no doubt that Paxon Chevy was a ruthless and successful entrepreneur, but he never fooled around with women; his heart always dwelled on the woman who he had sex with five years ago and that woman was irreplaceable. Scanning the photoshopped photos with his shimmering eyes, he frowned and was more convinced that Icy was a real slut who was seeking some big pockets. He knew he must forget her. As Paxon ‘s feelings toward Icy faded and evaporated, his love for Shirley grew stronger and deeper. And he began to accept that Shirley was his real love. Quickly inspecting all the photos, Pax put down his mobile phone and ignited a cigarette; He quietly sat.
Hosea Lindley, who was always a polite and elegant gentleman, gave a strict order to his personal assistant on the phone. “Go find out the source of the photos and the rumors. And fire him or her! Yes. And then all these rumors must stop. Whoever involved in this gossip again in the future , will be fired and no excuse.” On the other side of the phone, his assistant was frightened as he never saw his boss that angry before; he respectfully replied yes to whatever his boss demanded. Hosea was very efficient. In the next morning, there was no more gossip, no more queer gaze and things became peaceful again. Some employees were still discontent and confused, but they only kept the bewilderment to themselves. Some staffs tried to be friends with Icy whom they thought might become the future wife of their boss. Of course, Icy could feel that everyone was very strange; she had no idea what was going on and she simply acted normally and politely to them. When she arrived at her office, there was a bunch of flower and an invitation card on her desk. And she was completely clueless about who sent it.
