Both Paxon and Icy turned their head simultaneously toward the door, where the loud female voice came from. But their expressions were very different; they looked elusive and subtle. Pax was so shocked, lowering his hands slowly and releasing Icy from his embrace . After all, it was a big deal for him to find the woman who he had been looking for and dreaming of in the past five years. Icy, who was overwhelmed, now tried to stay calm, clear her mind and regain her consciousness. “Pax. Do not listen to her. She is not the woman you have been looking for,” Shirley Lindley restated firmly. “She is a fraud and she is doing all this for money. She is definitely not the one you want.” Her voice and tone were so confident and convincing that if there were any bystanders, they would surely believe in her. Pax turned away from Shirley , sat down on the elegant Sofa and replied coldly: “How do you know she isn't the one?” She delicately walked to him , sat down beside him on the sofa and held his hand. A pair of shimmering eyes gazed at him. “Because I am always the one you have been looking for.” Pax was stupefied and flicked off her hand. He thought it was some kind of joke or plank. “I am telling you again. This is a very serious issue. You must have some proof.” He then turned to Icy and glimpsed at her who was now peaceful and calm.

Shirley wasn’t dumb; she knew Pax would not believe her easily. Shedding tears, she took off her lavender coat. She was wearing a black braces-skirt inside and Pax could behold that on her chest, there was a butterfly birthmark which was exactly the same as Icy’s. Shirley sobbed and said: “You want proof? This is the proof. Do you remember this birthmark?” Pax still didn’t believe Shirley and he pointed at Icy. “she also has the same birthmark.” Icy was completely silent and was calmly watching SHirley’s performance. Shirley was very determined and insisted: “I always knew that she had one of this birthmark because her birthmark was a tattoo!” “What made you say that mine is a tattoo? In fact it seems that you have found a very skillful tattoo artist who can draw this sophisticated tattoo.” Icy finally broke her silence because she could no longer tolerate the insult on her and her birthmark, which was given and loved by her mother. After listening to Icy’s reply, Shirley dried her tears immediately and put on a aggressive look, ready to fight back. “Let’s check and find out the truth.” Turning around and putting on her coat again, she clapped and two tattooists in uniforms came in. They gave Mr. Chevy their business cards which indicated that they were the tattoo artists from the most famous tattoo shop in the city. Paxon Chevy read their business cards and nodded. “Can you tell the difference of a tattoo and a birthmark?” Icy was stunned and startled when Pax asked that question; she realized that Pax didn’t believe in her either. Although no one noticed, she actually smiled bitterly to herself. The tall tattoo artist said yes and then he began to utter some technical terms that none of them could understand.

Suddenly Paxon interrupted him and said. “Please stop. I do not want to attend a lecture of tattoo arts. All I want to know is that which one is a birthmark and which one is a tattoo.” The two tattooists looked at each other and got ready to begin the assessment. They began with Icy Wilkinson and started walking to her. She abruptly scolded them and pointed her finger at Paxon. “Who allowed you to do this? You don’t have the authorisation. Who do you think you are?” Pax frowned and before he could open his mouth, Shirley Lindley shot first. “Are you lacking confidence and feeling too afraid to be found out you are a fraud? If not, just let them scrutinize you.” Icy sneered and gazed at her angrily. “Are you saying I dare to be checked? You should understand clearly who dares not to be checked.” Shirley showed no sign of weakness and stared her back with a firece look. “No more bullshit. The moment of truth! Check it now.” Icy didn’t say a word; she just looked at Pax softly with her watery eyes, hoping him to say something. He raised his head, and had a glimpse at Icy and then turned away and ordered. “DO it now.” Now Icy fully understood that he never fully trusted her, and the only way to gain his trust was the confirmation by these two strangers. She did not want to be involved in anything. Unfortunately, the world was too small for both of them who were now collided again.

After the two professional technicians finishing their complicated operation of examination; they came up with a conclusion which was satisfactory and unsatisfactory . “Mr Chevy. Ms Lindley’s is a real birthmark; while another lady’s is a tattoo which can be washed off. Their conclusion shocked both Paxon and Icy; they were so astonished and surprised, but now they had very different thoughts in their mind. Shirley laughed delightly and said. "So, isn’t it clear now? Do you have anymore to say?” Now Icy finally realized that it was indeed a trap and the two so-called professionals must have taken her money, but she remained calm. “How can you prove anything with their one sided word? They are your people. Also, if you are really the woman who Pax had been looking for? Why didn’t you say it earlier?” Sitting on the sofa, Paxon Chevy changed his posture and laid his hands on his knee and looked at Shirley. “Yea. Has been so long. WHy didn’t you tell me earlier?” When she noticed his tone and his question, she became soften and crouched in front of him. “Pax. All I want is to tell you on our wedding night, to give you a surprise. And then Icy showed up and tried to ruin everything.” She sobbed as she continued. Now, if Pax had to choose one, his trust would definitely shifted to Shirley’s side who was meek and mild. Interestingly, meek and mild were the most powerful weapon of a woman. Pax raised Shirley with one hand and then handed her a tissue.

She had never seen Pax looking and treating her so tenderly; she was delighted and relieved and her tears kept shedding. Standing next to them, Icy was choked by her tears and performance; beholding everything silently, she could feel that her heart was thumped tremendously and started sinking. First mover advantage: people tend to believe the one who moves first. “Yes, Pax. I have more evidence to prove.” Shirley opened her mouth again as Paxon looked at Icy subconsciously. Being strong and alone for five years, Icy should not be shattered and defected easily. But now Pax’s suspicion had already extinguish all anger and flame; all hope had turned ashes. He turned his head back to Shirley and said, “ what did you just say?” She took out her mobile phone and dialed a number and in seconds, someone knocked on the door. Two men of different ages and one woman appeared. One of them was Icy’s senior from high school. Why did her senior suddenly show up after so many years? Icy was confused and she did not know what hidden conspiracy Shirley had against her.
