Elvira turned around angrily to go back to the bedroom.

But something dawned on her, and she stopped in her tracks.

    Was Nigel referring to Ethan?

She turned around to look at him. The man was shaking with anger.

Somehow, she was worried that he had found out about her meeting with Ethan.

The previous night, after she hung up on Ethan, she had told Ferguson that she had an appointment, so he wouldn’t need to pick her up from work the next afternoon.

Ferguson had complied, but he worked for Nigel after all.

He was supposed to pick her up every day and protect her. If anything happened to her and he wasn’t around, Nigel would hold him responsible.

So, Ferguson had reported Elvira’s request to Nigel immediately.

Back then, Nigel thought of the suspicious phone call she had just received. His gut feeling told him that Elvira was keeping something from him.

The next day, he went to Elvira’s office to invite her to lunch and check on her, only to find out that she wasn’t there.

In a military uniform, he stood at the front desk in the lobby, handsome and lonely.

Bernice told him that Elvira had left the office with a man.

She claimed that she had never seen that man before. But she stressed how handsome the man was, and how affectionate he was when he looked at Elvira.

She didn’t forget to comment that the two of them looked intimate and made a perfect couple.

This was a chance for Bernice to have her revenge. Of course, Galton was left out in her story, so that she could make it sound like Elvira had gone on a date with a handsome man.

If she could drive a wedge between Nigel and Elvira, the couple might eventually break up. That was what she wanted.

Except for Elvira, Nigel never betrayed his emotions in front of anyone. Besides, he knew what kind of person Bernice was, and what trick she was pulling; he wouldn’t let her get her way.

He was furious inside when he heard what Bernice said. But he wouldn’t show it in front of her.

The angrier he was, the happier she would be.

When she finished, Bernice looked at him with a smirk.

Little did he knew that his face fell as Bernice continued with her description.

Without sparing her so much as a glance, he made his way toward the door.

Bernice watched Nigel’s receding figure. A sinister smile crept over her face.

Elvira didn’t walk up to Nigel. She had been with Ethan today. So, she figured Nigel must be referring to Ethan.

But how did Nigel know about it? Did he follow her? That realization made her flare up again.

Do I have no freedom at all in this house? How could he follow me?

“How could you spy on me?” she yelled at him. The nervousness she had felt a moment ago vanished.

“Spy on you? I didn’t have to. You’re shouting at me because you know what you did.”

Nigel glared at her and stood up from the couch.

That afternoon, after he had left her workplace, he had passed by the bridal shop where Elvira was trying on a wedding gown. Through the glass window, he saw her smiling at a man in a bridegroom suit.

At that point, Nigel felt his blood boiling and his heart aching.

How could she do this to me? Is she leaving me? he muttered to himself.

His hands balled into fists, blue veins pulsing in his hands.

He was so angry that he punched the car window, and the glass broke to pieces. Blood trickled down his fingers and fell onto the ground. But the pain was nothing compared to his broken heart.

Like an empty shell, he didn’t even remember how he had driven home. While Ferguson was bandaging his hand, he was numb, feeling nothing. The scene where Elvira was wearing a bridal gown filled his head.

Afterwards, he sat on the couch, waiting for her to come home. She didn’t come back until it was the dead of night.

He tried his best to check his anger, but to his surprise, she yelled at him first.

That pushed him over the edge. His thunder took her aback.

He had never raised his voice to her before. Elvira froze with fear.

“What are you talking about? What did I do?” she retorted, after a moment's daze.

Nigel was more than 1.8 m tall. She had to raise her head to look into his eyes. Yet, he thought she was being defiant and stubborn.

All of a sudden, her eyes brimmed with tears. She lowered her head to force back her tears, and then held her head high again to meet his angry eyes.

They stared at each other just like that. Neither of them looked away.

Her pouting lips and red, moist eyes all seemed adorable to him. He wanted to kiss her. It was an unreasonable reaction, though. Nigel thought he must have lost his mind. He should be angry at her right now. Why was he so attracted to her?

“You put on a wedding gown for another man. And You looked happy!” he grabbed her wrist and said viciously.

Elvira was stunned. So, he saw us?

“You saw me?” she asked nervously. But she didn’t understand why she was so nervous. Their marriage was only a sham, after all.

    “I did. Any explanations?”

he asked with raised brows, his eyes dim and angry.

The look on his face once more stirred up a storm in Elvira’s heart.

“So what? It’s none of your business.”

she declared provocatively, tilting her head.

That was the last straw. He lost control over his emotions. She was his wife! How could she fool around with another man?

He threw her over his shoulder and strode into the bedroom.

Elvira struggled. What is he doing?

Nigel tossed her onto the bed and got on top of her.
