After lunch, Lucy called and told Christopher that there was going to be a video meeting about an acquisition plan, so Christopher handed Chloe to her people in Financial Department and left. Lowell left with Christopher too so there were only Danielle and Chloe, Millen acted cool and calm but deeply inside he was thrilled, because he couldn’t believe that he was going to be around with his boss’ girlfriend for quite a while in the villa!

“Chloe, aren’t you the treasure of our Department!” Danielle complimented with an flattering expression. Chloe smiled back and found a place to sit and started to play games.

“Tell me, Chloe sweetheart, where are you and Mr. Cleveland, your relationship?”

“...” I knew she would ask this ind of question! Chloe didn’t say a word and buried herself into her games, and pretended she didn’t hear till Danielle took her phone, “hey!”

“Be honest with me!” Danielle asked with a profound look, with Chloe’s phone behind her back.

“There is nothing to tell really.” Chloe blushed and didn’t know how to say.

“It’s said that Mr. Cleveland has got only one room but there are two of you.”

“That was because, because every staff has got his own room and I came with you guys too.” Chloe was making up a lie that even she herself didn’t believed. She was upset, what could she say next?

“But Mr.Cleveland can absolutely just open another room for you, without paying anything!” Danielle kept gossiping. Chloe was flustered and she did not know at all how to deal with her. “OK fine, I won’t make things difficult you, here is your phone.” Danielle gave back Chloe’s phone and went for some drinks, when Shelly, who had been standing not far away this whole time, walked behind her with her arms cross before her chest, her chin raised high.

“Chloe, where is Mr. Cleveland?”

“Mr. Cleveland? He’s got a video meeting now and left me here with you guys.” Chloe turned back and glanced at Shelly, and handed a orange to her with a big smile, “here, they are very sweet.”

Shelly didn’t take it, she only shook her head, meaning no. She adjusted her tone and expression, and told Chloe deliberately what Christian had told herself.

“Actually Chloe, I have heard once that Mr. Cleveland had one of his private detective investigated you...” Shelly said with some uncertainty in her voice, then walked around to sit with her, “anyway, Mr.Cleveland is a rich successful man, having some rumors around is normal anyway. Rich people are hard to understand, sometimes what they do is way beyond us. Don’t take it too seriously even if he has done the investigation.”

“Shelly? What are doing here?” Danielle came back with a drink in her hand. She saw Shelly was very strange so she put down the drink hurriedly and went near. Chloe didn’t look different but obviously Shelly didn’t say anything that made Chloe happier too.

“Oh, you are back Danielle, maybe I should get going.” after Shelly left, Chloe sipped some drink and excused herself for being too tired. Millen sat at the corner and watched Chloe go, and wondered how she was feeling now.

“What’s wrong with her? What has Shelly said to Chloe?”

“Shelly said Mr. Cleveland once had his private detective investigated her.”

“What?”

“Yes.”

“We do not know if it’s true or not, but I guess no one would want to know that his boyfriend might have had his private detective investigated herself once.” Danielle started to get worried. People from other departments had already been gossiping around about Financial Department, that ‘accountants were not only good at calculation, but also excellent at finding sugar daddies'. They didn’t say it aloud only because they were afraid that Christopher might fire them. What if Christopher did break up with Chloe? Danielle didn’t know if she could take all the sarcastic remarks then.

Chloe took off her shoes and sat silently at the bed after she went back to her room. She stared at those two suite cases stood naturally side by side together and soon, the words of Shelly, and the words of Christian, started to echo in her mind like a duet. She could simply put everything together and make her own conclusion. When Vincent had seen her for the first time, he seemed to have known her for a while, and Vincent WAS a private detective. Christopher had had her phone number, had known her likes and dislikes, her liking in food, and even the sizes of her dress and shoes. Everything! Had christian gone to Vincent for her number too? She wondered. Maybe Christian had found out that Vincent had her personal info, so he had called to warn her. Everything seemed to make sense to her.

“Hello, Cherie. Could you, do me a favor?”

“What favor? Don’t be shy!”

“Could you help me to have a look or check, if there is any information about me at Vincent’s studio?” Chloe said as concisely as she could, and then she heard nothing but silence from Cherie.

“You mean,he had Vincent investigated you?”

“I’m not sure...”

“OK, I’ll keep an eye for you.”

After she hang up, Chloe started to be afraid? What if Cherie did find some files about her? Should she break up with him? Or should she continue with him?
