Edward lowered his eyes. He had thick eyelashes that cast a shadow on his face when he did that, making him look more mysterious. The Prince Charming was shimmering with charm.

Hailey forced herself to pull her eyes away from his face after she had stared at him for a long time. That man was just too attractive that she would easily get lost in her mind should she looked at him for a long time. “Edward, thank you for cleaning the wounds for me. But could you do it more gently? It hurts a bit.”

Edward pressed her onto the sofa again and tore her clothes. Hailey felt a bit uncomfortable when he did this.

The moment Hailey finished her words, Edward, who had been concentrating at dealing with the bandage, paused for a second.

“Don’t move, or it may hurt more,” he demanded, his voice cold.

Before Hailey could say something in response, someone knocked at the door.

“Mr. Zhang, are you in there? I’m Nick, the security guard of the villa.”

Nick was a middle-aged security guard.

Hailey recognized his voice. She was actually a bit upset because Nick rarely responded to her whenever she talked to him. He would always remain silent and poker-faced.

But what was he doing here now?

Wearing a dark face, Edward stood up and went to unlock the door. Hailey, on the other hand, went to pour herself a cup of water before she went back to the sofa and pretended to enjoy the water.

“Mr. Zhang, I heard that Miss Hailey was screaming after you came back. Is there anything wrong…” Nick asked politely. As a matter of fact, he had been intended to break into the room right before Edward pulled the door open.

“What?” Edward asked.

His dark face and unhappy aura almost made Nick freeze.

“Mr… Mr. Zhang, I heard Miss Hailey scream. So I…” Nick stammered.

At the same time, Edward shot a stare at Hailey who was pretending to enjoy the water while glimpsing towards him secretly. Hailey noticed his glare and immediately lowered her head, focusing on her water.

Nick took a glimpse inside of the room and saw Hailey was sitting on the sofa, drinking the water. One of the sleeves of her sweater was torn apart and her face blushed. That was really an awkward scene. Nick felt very embarrassed. “I think this is just a misunderstanding, Mr. Zhang. I’m sorry for interrupting you. I am leaving right now,” he apologized immediately before he ran out of the room quickly.

Hailey did not utter a word.

Before Nick was about to leave, he still took a glimpse at Hailey to check if she was really all right. But Edward stood between them and blocked Nick’s view.

After Nick made his exit, Edward closed the door and walked to Hailey.

Hailey immediately had a terrible feeling. She put the cup down and stood up. “Edward. it just hurt so badly that I couldn’t stand it. That was why I screamed. I just couldn’t control myself,’ she explained. However, there was a hint of guilt on her face, though. Edward saw through her and thought she was really a careless girl.

Taking a look at her who was hanging her head low, Edward lifted the corners of his mouth upward and said, “Oh? So you can still joke after you were close to being in big trouble a few hours ago?”

“No! I didn’t joke! I said I just couldn’t control myself because it really hurt badly!” Hailey said as she tidied her bang and revealed her beautiful forehead.

Edward looked at her with a meaningful look for several seconds before he said, “Well, forget it. I’ll just let you go today.”

Hailey was feeling very terrible when Edward refused to listen to her explanation. The agony on her face was seen by Edward, which made him feel a little bit sorry.

He then made Hailey lean against the sofa once again.

“What do you want?” Hailey jumped out of the sofa at once.

“I’ll dress the wounds for you in case they might become inflamed. You can’t do it by yourself,” he said calmly as he cut off a piece of gauze with scissors.

“E… Edward, thank you. But I’m really fine. These wounds…” Hailey said with a blushed face.

Edward, on the other hand, did not make any response. He kept dressing her wounds carefully.

Hailey’s plan was that she wanted to make Edward feel guilty by letting Mark leave those scratches on her arms. That way, she would be able to ask him to do her a favor and allow her to work in his entertainment company. What was more, she was confident that she would make great achievements in that field because of her talent and hard-working.

However, seeing Edward treat her like this, she felt happy in some odd way.

Was this the feeling of falling in love? Had she been fallen in love with Edward at such an early stage?

“Are you done, Edward?” Hailey asked in a careful tone as she watched him.

“Do you like bowknot? I can do a beautiful bowknot,” he asked, looking at her into her eyes.

“What? That’s too embarrassing,” Hailey replied before she turned her eyes away and looked in another direction.

“Young girls like the bowknot, don’t they?”

“Well, fine, please.” Hailey agreed with a blushing face as if she was so flattered when Edward served her.

Edward remained calm like always. He would not show any emotions on the face. He paused for a few seconds before he said again, “No problem. I’ll do this now.”

He was actually a bit clumsy at such handwork. He did it once. But then he seemed to think it was not beautiful. So he untied it and redid it again.

“Are you done?” Hailey asked patiently.

“Yes,” he said. But soon, he added, “I’ll do it again. This one doesn’t look good.”

Ten minutes after.

The frowning brows disappeared and a slight smile crept onto his lips. “Yes, it’s done!”

Hailey did not make any response. Edward felt strange, so he raised his head to check how she was doing. Unexpectedly, she had already fallen asleep.

She was so tranquil when she was sleeping. He saw her long and curled eyelashes cast a shadow around her eyes.

Occasionally, she opened her mouth a bit and groaned probably because she didn’t sleep well because she was leaning against the sofa uncomfortably.

Edward felt that he almost had lost his heart to her. He reached out and touched her face gently.

The moment his hand reached her face, strangely he felt warm go through his body.

He stared at her as if he was studying some kind of precious treasure. Hailey was breathing tranquilly.

His eyes found her lips. Somehow he felt the urge to kiss her.

When he was about to put that into practice, the picture of Hailey smiling brightly suddenly flashed through his head. He immediately stood up and became very serious.

She had lost her father not long ago. He had promised her father that he would take good care of her. He couldn’t do this to her! He must consider her as a young sister.

Edward stopped himself from acting recklessly and went to the study to fetch a blanket. After he returned, he covered her with the blanket softly before he turned around and left.

When Hailey woke up, it was already the night.

She had no idea when she fell asleep. She was too tired to proceed with her plan.

When she thought of Edward’s gentle face, she pursed her lips.

She got up, picked up her coat, and ran out to search for him in a hurry.

The moment she pulled the door open, two bodyguards stopped her from leaving.

“Miss Hailey, Mrs. Zhang wants to see you,” one of them said.

Hailey immediately knew it was Lucy.

She was then forced to go to the house where Lucy lived not far away. Compared to Edward’s villa, Lucy’s house was filled with an atmosphere of terror.

She was brought to the living room.

“Hailey, did you set the trap for me?”

The moment the door closed, Lucy jumped towards her like a crazy dog. Hailey dodged and avoided her. She walked to the sofa calmly and made herself a cup f tea.

The way she behaved tranquilly made Lucy resentful very much.

“Aunt Lucy, didn’t Edward demand that you are not allowed to talk to me? Did you forget that?” Hailey teased. “I set the trap for you? Don’t get this wrong, Aunt Lucy. You must be mistaken. You set the trap for you, didn’t you? I’m afraid God must publish you for your very wrong behavior. You bribed the waitress, intending to drug you, didn’t you? Don’t assume me wrongly.”

“You…” Lucy was unable to refute back with a righteous excuse, however.

Hailey put the cup on the table before she walked towards Lucy.

Lucy was so angry that her heart ached a bit. One step Hailey walked forward, one step Lucy walked backward. Apparently, Lucy was being guilty.

“Aunt Lucy, you plotted with Terry Wang to rape me. What if I tell this to Uncle Alex? Do you think you would still keep a foothold for yourself in the Zhang Family?

Lucy’s face paled at once. She took out a fruit knife from behind and stabbed towards Hailey. “Only the dead would keep secrets! I’m going to kill you, bitch!”

Hailey dodged away timely again. However, the sharp knife still managed to break her skin. Hailey was so scared that her face paled.

Still, she managed to deal with Lucy. She said loudly, “If I died here today, the video of you and Terry in the hotel will be spread on the Internet soon! The world will see how you two behaved!”

Lucy opened her eyes wide with fear. Her body shuddered terribly. “You… You are threatening me! How dare you?”
