Legs broken, she came across the man whom she had saved from the fire. His skin was also burnt. He was kicked out of his family, too. But fortunately, his legs remained intact. For the next ten years, they lived together in a shabby small room and supported each other. Chapter 26 When She Dressed in Blue

Veronica held Crystal's hand and pointed at a blue dress in the showcase happily. "Hey, look at it. Isn't it beautiful?" she asked Jasper.

Jasper was wearing a smiling face. He nodded in agreement and was about to reply. But Veronica continued without waiting for him, "It must fit Crystal well! She must be looking gorgeous in it!"

The smile on Jasper's face froze for a while. But soon, he came to his senses and echoed, "Yes, you are right."

Crystal shot shy glances at Jasper from the corner of her eye from time to time. Veronica seemed not to notice it at all. She grasped Crystal's hand and dragged her into the shop. She walked directly towards the staff and said, "That blue dress, please. Can we have a try? I mean, my friend would like to have a try."

Crystal was very shy. She would even reach out to accept the dress when the staff passed it to her. Veronica lifted the corners of her mouth and took the dress from the staff. Then she tucked it into Crystal's hands forcefully and said in a considerate and convincing tone, "Try it, Crystal. Trust me. I'm sure you will look extremely gorgeous and surprise everyone in this dress. You have my words."

Crystal lowered her head and looked at the dress. Meanwhile, she took a secret glance over Jasper through the corner of her eye.

Really? Would she look extremely gorgeous in this dress?

"Yes," replied Crystal as she nodded timidly. Then she turned around and walked into the fitting room. Veronica wandered in the shop, pretending to check if there was anything that she liked. Later, she turned to Jasper who was sitting on the sofa and said, "I need to go out for a while. You guys stay here and wait for me for a few moments."

Jasper immediately stood up and asked anxiously, "What's wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"

Veronica buried her face into her hands, turned around, and said with an awkward voice, "No, no, no. I'm good. I just need to go to the toilet. Stay here and don't follow me."

Jasper burst into laughter. "Okay," he replied, voice soft.

Veronica left. As a matter of fact, she did not go to the toilet at all. Instead, she went to the second floor and hid behind a big pillar. Then she turned on her camera and locked it on Jasper.

Crystal went out. She looked nervous and dared not look at Jasper. Lowering her head, she did not utter a word.

She was quite frustrated because of what had happened last night. Jasper had refused her.

Like what we had described earlier, Crystal had fair skin, an unhealthy color. She liked the color of white and always wore a white dress. It made her look more fragile. Any man would feel pity for her and would like to protect such a fragile girl.

But this time, with the blue dress, she turned into a happy cute fairy from a sick beauty.

The color of blue would always remind people of youth and energy.

Jasper was stunned at the sight of her in that dress. It was his first time to see Crystal dress in such an active color. His heart seemed to skip a beat. Suddenly, Veronica's face flashed through his mind. As a result, he immediacy came to himself. Wearing an embarrassed expression on his face, he took back his eyes from Crystal. Then he took a glance at his watch and said, "Why isn't Veronica back yet?"

Crystal had secretly raised her head to look at Jasper. There had been shyness in her eyes. But when she heard what Jasper just said, she lowered her head again. The shyness in her eyes faded and was replaced by hatred.

She did not understand. Veronica's family was far better than hers. But why the man she liked would even not give her a glance because of Veronica?

The feeling of hatred flooded her. She hated Veronica, hated Veronica's parents, hated the unfair fate, and hated why her parents were servants.

Would everything become different if she were a princess?

Suddenly, Crystal remembered something that had happened a long long time ago. Veronica did not want to put on the princess dress Anna had prepared for her. So Anna beat her. Later, Veronica ran away from home, leaving Anna and Lawrence quarreling in the study…

No! She shook her head, trying to get rid of that idea. She could not afford to piss Anna off for the time being.

When Veronica came back, Crystal had already taken off that blue and changed back to her original. She seemed not to be happy. Jasper also wore a strange expression. Veronica acted as if she did not notice anything unusual. She took out her credit card and passed it to the staff. "That dress, please," she said, smiling.

She saw everything through the camera. It seemed that Crystal did look gorgeous in the blue dress and Jasper liked it too.

Crystal did not stop Veronica from buying the dress. She reacted as if she did not hear what Veronica just said at all. Instead, she just stood at the door, eyes gloomy. Jasper's eyes followed her for a few seconds. Finally, he took his eyes off her and rubbed his forehead, tired.

Holding the dress in her hands, Veronica smiled.

She seemed to have completed a good job.
