Bill felt depressed because Caine refused his help.

Even if Caine was just a friend of him, he couldn’t bear to see him go down like this during the rest of his life. What’s more, Caine was his lover? But what could he do if he was unwilling?

He went to ask John, but John was dissatisfied and immediately said:

"He was spoiled. If he don’t need, you can give up. Does he think that you are a philanthropist who wants to do charity? Bill, leave him alone."

Bill could not do it absolutely. When he didn’t know Caine’s situation, he often thought about him, what he was doing, who he would associate with, and whether he would treat others as what he did to him... Now he knew his situation, so he couldn’t rest assured.

He was also somehow disappointed, Caine did not really like him because he was the second master of the Huo’s, and he was out of Caine’s league. But Caine was in bad condition now. Although he was not coming from a wealthy family, his economic situation was better than ordinary people’s. So what? Caine still looked down on him.

He sighed at the bottom of his heart, and he thought that human effort can achieve anything. Now Caine was in need of help from others. If he tried harder, maybe he will like him?

"Sir, it was 375 dollars altogether, please pay for it."

Bill was interrupted by the sweet voice in front of him and recovered from his inner thought. It was raining for two days consecutively, and it was still raining today. He thought that Caine would not go out to work in this weather? So he planned to buy some fresh vegetables, fruits and daily necessities for him in the supermarket. Because of the inconvenience of carrying Noy, he also asked John to help him take care of Noy. He dared not tell John that he was going to find Caine, so he only said that he was going to the supermarket to buy some daily necessities.

After shopping, he left the supermarket and drove straight to the urban village to find Caine.

It was really inconvenient to park a car in urban village. He parked his car in a far distance, carrying large and small bags, and he was even inconvenient to carry an umbrella. When he reached Caine’s door, half of his body was caught in the rain. He ignored that and knocked on the closed door, but no one came to open it. He frowned and thought; it was hard to imagine that in this weather, could he go to work on the construction site?

But he bought everything, what could he do with them?

As he thought about it, he pushed the door slightly and he was surprised to find that the door was unlocked. He put his umbrella aside and pushed the door in. He felt the heavy humidity in the small house. Caine was lying in bed, it seemed like he was asleep.

He took the purchased bags and umbrella and then put them away. He walked up to wake him up and said, "Caine, Caine?"

    But Caine did not respond.

Bill’s heart sank suddenly, he unconsciously reached out and probed his plump forehead, only to find Caine was feverish and the temperature was not low!

At this time, if he woke Caine up and asked him to go to the hospital, he would certainly not be willing to. Bill thought, I’d better buy antipyretics alone.

He carefully found the key on the table and locked the door before going out. Fortunately, there was a drugstore not far from the village. He bought an electronic thermometer and antipyretic patch, as well as some antipyretics and anti-inflammatory drugs, and hurriedly came back.

There was not even a cup of hot water in the room. He measured Caine’s temperature with the electronic thermometer and pasted the antipyretic sticker on his forehead. He also boiled some water in regardless of whether he had been wet by the rain.

In the gap of boiling water, he finally sat down and looked at Caine carefully.

He looked thinner and his skin became darker. The long, bony fingers of his hands had become rough, and even his face was stained with the shadow of the wind and frost. But he was in a fever with an abnormal flush on his face now, which made him still look a little childish of youthfulness.

Bill used to enjoy watching him to smile at him and show his attachment to him, but Caine was now like a stone polished by a sword, he was scarred, cold and hard to touch, and no one could get close to him.

He was thinking while the sound of the electric kettle automatic closing interrupted his thoughts. He busily poured the hot water from the kettle into one hot water kettle and poured some into a cup. When he turned around with the cup, he saw Caine opening his eyes slightly and trying to look at him with hazy eyesight.

    "Caine, it’s me," he said.

Caine struggled to frown before he finally saw him; he was a bit weak and hoarse. He said, "Why are you coming here again?"

"How do you get fever?" Instead of answering his question, Bill asked, "Do you know you have a fever? 39 degrees Celsius and if you ignore it, maybe it would become pneumonia."

With that, he took the cup and the medicine lying beside it, patiently peeled it out for him, and then handed it to him: "Take it."

Caine sat up from the bed and touched his forehead. He was still unconscious. It seemed less cold but more amiable.

Bill handed him the medicine and water again: "Did you have lunch? If you haven’t eaten, put the medicine aside first. I’ll cook something for you before taking the medicines. Caine, it’s your body, and you are not Noy. Don’t bring trouble with yourself, okay?"

Caine seemed a little confused. He did not realize where he was or what happened. He just stared at Bill with his eyes open. It looked alike Noy so much.

Bill couldn’t help laughing; he reached out his hand and touched his hair: "After all, you are still a child..."

When a person got ill, he would be particularly vulnerable. Moreover, Caine had not been treated tenderly for so long. Suddenly, he reached for Bill’s hand which touched his hair and put his face on the back of his hand the muttered:

    "Don’t leave me..."

Bill was stunned. Before he could respond, he saw Caine holding his hand and whispering:

    "No one needs me..."

Bill felt a sore in his eyes and his throat was choked. He sat beside the bed and gently held Caine in his arms. "Caine, don’t worry about that, I need you." he said softly.

Caine burst into tears like a homeless child, he was crying in Bill’s arms. "Why do you treat me like this..."

Bill didn’t know who he was talking about, his brother Karl Huo, his coworkers, or his fate... But he felt that Caine might just need someone to listen to his words quietly at the moment and he would give him a warm embrace.

There could never be real ‘empathy’ in the world. Even if he watched what he had experienced, he could not experience his feelings. Therefore, no one had the right to accuse him of his weakness; he also could not give him real comfort or heal his wounds.
